I've started this topic for a therapist who was having trouble posting to the general forums. I can edit it as needed for them.

Consent and understanding. I am very uncomfortable with romance and intimacy. My last boyfriend didn't appreciate this and threatened to kill himself when I broke up with him for the same reason. People need to understand that different people have different boundaries, and that playing the victim and blaming your vulnerable partner for your suicidal thoughts is wrong.

There's trust and transparency. There's a yearning to build each other up and support each other. There's an acceptance of the imperfect. It's okay to disagree. It's okay to have emotions. Abuse isn't part of it. If wrongs are committed, sincere apologies are offered. There is thoughtfulness, empathy, and compassion. There isn't perfection, but there is love.

When someone is honest with you or straight with you and doesn't beat around the bush or confuse the issue or mess with your head. This is important in any relationship. A romantic one. A friendship. A community. Family. our therapist or therapeutic groups or treatment teams.

If you can't trust these very important people or groups in your life that's a sign of a bad relationship with any of these people or groups. You need to be able to trust them. You need to be able to be honest with them because you trust them and you need to be able to trust them so you can be honest with them.
