What Does "I love you" mean to you?
What does "I love you" mean to you?
Those three words, Are a doom to me. I'm single, been trough a couple of relationships, but No one has said that to me besides my friends, parents, and other family members. That's all I want someone to say to me, a partner to say to me.
But as a listener dealing with relationship issues among my members, I've learned that those words can also be a lie. It isn't a promise to stay with them forever, its a way of saying sorry for leaving.
But the true question is, What does it mean to you? What does affect does it have to your relationship?
For me it depends on who said it because there are different meanings that I will take to if it is a particular person. Like my little sister. Just recently she signed I Love You to me while we were getting ice cream and she was in a wheelchair. My friend occasionally says I Love You for helping him with stuff. Although the phrase itself sounds temporary and doesnt have much value to it if said too often, I like to give meaning to it. In return it gives me a sense of security and I have more drive to keep myself alive. Just knowing that someone out there noticed me. It doesnt have to be this phrase too, as actions speak louder than words.

It always meant everything to me, thousands of words, feelings and other things in three words, that's why my separation anxiety was so severe every time someone left me or I had to give them their natural freedom...each one of them gone took a piece of my soul...I never left anyone...I know what true "I love you" means and I can only pitty those who don't...😔😔😔

Have you heard the expression, love is an action verb? To me, saying "I love you" is a commitment to loving someone in that you are considering their needs as well as your own. In that sense I can love my soon-to-be ex husband while I am leaving him, because I realize that neither of our needs can be met if we stay together. I love my son by looking out for his best interests in addition to what he wants, and commiting to be the best mom I can be. I love our dog by meeting her needs for exercise, affection, and socializing with other dogs.

Those words mean a lot to me, but they have to have true feeling behind them. People might believe Why should I have to tell you if you should already know? - but it is not enough. Some of us, myself included, have trust issues and relationship anxiety and need to hear it more often to believe it. ❤️

This phrase is so strong and yet it is used and misused so many times.
Like it heals, it breaks.
It's so powerful, and yet it is sometimes said only for the sake of saying.
Yet people are scared of it because it means so much and yet it's so little....

I'm not sure if I have ever felt the real meaning of it but I'm hoping when I do it would mean:
Security, Respect, Trust, Happiness, Support, Caring, Passion, Friendship, Stability, Loyalty, Acceptance, Imperfections, Unselfishness.
@AlwaysLoveYourselfForever to me it is a difficult phrase to use when talking about relationships.A lot of people arent ready to say it and that is ok you know why? Because is better not to say it but actions show it than saying it and actions saying otherwise!
It means loyalty and trust (are extremely hard to get from me.) It is special but used too much.
