Engagement over

My fiancee and I are going through a rough patch. She ended things about a week ago but has still contacted me a little here and there. Just saying that she is praying for me and very little small talk. I texted her and asked if this is really what she wants and she never texted back for 24 hours and the reply had nothing to do with that question. That silence says a lot to me. Well last night I texted her and said that I have something important that I need to discuss with you, she said okay and now was a good time to come over. I have been in a hotel for going on a month now. It has been torture. So last night I went there and spilled my guts. Telling her that I don’t want this and that I just want to know if there is a sliver of a crack in the door for me to fight for our relationship. I am ready and willing to fight for it. I did not get a true answer m. All I got is I just don’t know if I can get back. I broke her trust and she is struggling with that. There was no infidelity or anything like that. She just just trust what I am telling her that I want out of our relationship. I really cannot read where her answer may lie. I told her I lived her and asked her to give it some thought and she kind of said she would but just kept saying I don’t know if I can get back. She asked me what it would look like if we did get back together and I told her that I wanted a chance to build that trust. To show her I wanted that bond with her, to be her partner through thick and thin. When I left I told her that I would not contact her and bug her. I would let her reach out to me. The problem for me is also worse because I moved to her place from 2 hours away and I don’t really know anyone out here that is not her family or was not her friend first. So I am stuck in a hotel with nothing but my thoughts. I have been seeing a relationship counselor and that has helped but left things also more confusing. As I said I cannot read her at all right now. She has been very vague. It is driving me nuts. I guess I am just looking for some guidance from real people and not a therapist

I finally got the answer that I was dreading. It is over. I don’t know why she says that she thought she made that clear when I have been asking about it and never got an answer to that question. I would only get small talk and things not related to the questions. I have been holding up things waiting for those answers and I have even relayed to her. It was *** waiting for the answers to come and that made it more painful that I told her I needed those answers for over a week and nothing. And then to come back and tell me that she thought she was clear when she told me when she never told me. That makes the hurt even worse.

But at least now I have some kind of closure on it. Now time to figure my next move

Depending on who she is as a person, her response is very telling. Her “ I don’t know “ sounds like she’s begging for you to step it up and prove to her the relationship is worth continuing. She isn’t giving a yes or no bc a yes is a “ you can get away with things and I’ll stick around “ and a no is “ I no longer want you in my life “ seems like she’s stuck in the middle and as someone who is also stuck in the middle, just prove to her you love her. DO NOT blow her up. Let her sit with her thoughts, but not for too long

I’m sorry I just saw your update post 😔 it might be hard now especially after an engagement but in some way, this is a win. You’ll find your person soon and you won’t be out THOUSANDS of dollars on a wedding

It is a closure of sorts. The bad thing is through all of this I am understanding that I was in a depression and I want aware of it. I have been going through some therapy and it is making me realize this. There were some things in our relationship that was pushing me deeper in it. With me giving up my entire life, my home, my job, my lifestyle, my surroundings and to an extent my freinds and being farther from my family, my support network. She couldn’t have understood what that was like for me. The only difference in her life was that I was now in it. I had that same difference with now she was in my life but nothing else was the same either. It took some time to adapt. I came from the city and she lived in the country 2 hours away. I liked the country life but she also kind of forced feed her family on me. Don’t get me wrong I do care for them immensely, but they were at our house every day. They are in their mid and upper 20’s. Then she had what she called a bonus daughter that she took in when this girl was 20.she has since moved a couple of blocks a way. She has some issues and would not leave us an alone. It was exhausting. My ex lives next to her mother and all of her kids are with in 3 minutes drive away. It just felt as there was no privacy. Every one would come and go with no warning and no one would knock and just come in. Even her freinds. That was different for me. I always knock on someone’s door. Even family.

Then she started pushing her friends on me thinking I didn’t know anyone in the area. It that needs to come naturally and not be forced. I don’t think that she was doing anything intentionally to change me. I think she meant well by it. It it also said to me that she wasn’t going to change anything at all while I had to change everything. I thought about doing couples counseling around a year ago or so. The thing is I never brought it up to her. I should have and have major regrets that I didn’t. I think that it would have made me understand that I was in a depression and then I could have started treating it. It could have showed her that some of the things that she was doing was actually contributing to it. Y me being in the depression and especially not knowing it, I pushed away. Lost myself emotionally, mentally and physically. It I didn’t realize I was. And then that made her push away as well. The bad thing is we both want the the same things out of life and we both think the world of each other and love each other. I just waited too long to find the root cause of our problems. And now unfortunately it has pushed her too far away and she can’t ever get that back. It is just a wasted opportunity because if I had noticed this sooner there is a great chance we could be back to the loving relationship we once had

@Rick1colts It sounded like you loved her a lot, but she couldn't have felt it. Your expression also confused me. If you want to share your story in private, 1-1 chat with a listener on here will be helpful: https://www.7cups.com/BrowseListeners/

Just got done relationship counselor session. He is telling me to give up and move on. He is probably correct but I am not sure I am ready to give up. It was only my third session and he has never spoken to her. He hasn’t heard much about us. How can Simone like that be so sure. Not saying he is or isn’t correct, but it is easy for someone to brush things aside when they have a very small example of things. It just seems like he is mostly just trying to make you feel good about yourself and that is his main job. The bad thing is what would make me feel the best is to be back in my relationship with her. It just sucks
