How to let go?

I had a really nice but short relationship, i loved her, i loved me. We never fought. It was never toxic, we both were considerate and deeply cared for each other. But then for some reason i thought it might not work. Just a gut feeling, and i didn't want to hurt her in future which would have been worse. So i initiated a break up. This happened 2 months ago, but then after some time i started missing her, and started feeling lonely, started crying. So i texted her, as i wanted to patch up things. We talked the whole night. Really great chat, but then she told me she's going out with a guy and she likes him. Then the memories kept getting more frequent. I feel lonely and down all the time. It's affecting everything. I love her and just wants her to be happy and for that I have to move on because I think i'll just be a hurdle in her life now. I have done enough damage. I don't want to make it worse for both of us, but i cannot stop remembering her. Everything reminds me of her, i really wish i had given it some more time. I know i' the wrong guy here. I just wish she get what she deserves and she definitely deserves someone better than me, someone who loves her, misses her like i'm doing it right now but with her.

How to move on? How to let go of her?

You have a hole in your heart now..

She was so good for both of you...

You've learned a valuable lesson about what commitment is and I hope you find a new life even better than this! Yes really!!

It's not over by a long shot.. her memory will live on in other relationships and friendships.. honor this relationship by achieving so much more, you owe it to yourself! 🌲

It is normal to feel alone and maybe even think about what if ... when you have broken up with someone. we always look back and see the good parts and forget how we felt in the relationship the doubt or feeling something is not working.   we do this with lots of things wish we had stayed at a job we had lots of friends at and overlooking the downside that was the reason we found new job etc.

I am sorry she has started dating someone else already but that should be your sign to move on too.

Tbh i am very happy that she's doing good, atleast i don't feel the guilt now. Still mourn but it's better. Today was better for me. Idk if it's just mood swings that happens or something else. But i'm happy for her. And if i ever get a chance i would like to thank her for the 6 months we spend together, the memories we created. Although i muted her on inst today

@warmheartedPond7604 It`s crazy, I feel for you a lot. I`m going through the same. We had a short relationship and it was long distance, even if all I remember is the good things right now and how safe and comfortable he made me feel, I know I had my reasons and doubts about us, we used to argued a lot in such a short time, and I cut things off more times than I ever wanted to admit and then me or him would reach out next day to work things out... Last time I saw we had some incompatibilities that might have been a problem in the future for us, I handled the breakup horrible, I was so anxious with everything that day that I told him I only could see us as friends, later I realized that`s not true at all, I wanted him and wanted us to work, but I told him out of nowhere that I didn`t see us in a relationship anymore and he was tired of the same things and just accepted it. I don`t blame him at all. I am heartbroken, ashamed, feeling guilty, regretful, want him back, apologized a thousand times but he`s not even opening my texts anymore. This would`ve been my first ever real relationship and I ruined everything by how I handled the ending. I send you a hug and want to let you know that you`re not alone with this feelings and hopefully all of us how are going through this can heal soon.

I went out with friends tonight, and for the first time in months, i felt happy. I think I took a right decision, and if anyone is going through similar stuff, it's really nice to talk about stuff and be with friends. Today I didn't miss her, I just felt good that I took the right decision. It takes time to heal and get over it, it was months for me, it might be longer for someone else but things change, you get over it after some time. For me it was being social, for someone else it might be something different, try to find it.

@warmheartedPond7604 God, it's so hard to let go, isn't it? Struggling with this as well. However, life doesn't stop, and it is in our best interest to attempt to move on. Distractions like hobbies, friends, and meaningful relationships that are NOT romantic are so fulfilling. They remind us of everything else there is to life. Keep living fully, and one day you'll realize that time has passed, you both aren't the same anymore, and there will always be more. More people to meet, things to do, sights to see. If she was so amazing, let her live on through what you do, but don't let it consume you. Look for the beautiful qualities she shared with you in friends. Have convos that you had with her, with everyone else. She was a lesson to show you what you appreciate in others. Take that and carry it with you for the people you meet next; romantic or not.

I think you let her go out of fear . It sounds like you both have a great connection. I'm sorry you made that decision but if you feel in your heart that was the right decision then that's what counts. Grief after a break up takes time. My first break up took one year. You'll get there.
