I don't like nudes and I'm scared I'll end up alone or unhappy

So, I ended a long term relationship a few months ago.

I remember the first time I was apart from him for a long time, he asked me to send pics. Being about 19 I got really nervous. I said I'm not comfortable with that. Instead of saying "oh, okay" he just said "well why not? I won't do anything bad with them. I won't show anyone, I love you, I promise" etc. So finally after some badgering, I sent them. Then every time I was away from him, it was like simply talking didn't exist, only "I miss you send pics" it "I miss you sext with me". I'd pretend to like it but in reality, I didn't. It made me feel gross, objectified, and bad, like he didn't want to talk to me or call me, just see my body or wish he was having sex. When I moved to continue my education, it soon became the only thing he would ask for over text. When we video chatted he would always end up wanting to get sexual. My libido is low and always has been, but I didn't realize how much of our relationship was based on just sex, and that's when I knew something was wrong.

Now being out of that relationship, I realize that was wrong. I shouldn't have been pressured and I didn't have to give in just to please him. If he'd have really loved and respected me, he wouldn't have continued asking or made me feel bad about it. And I still really don't like nudes. Now I don't mind sharing my body with someone in person, or sexual things, I just think I prefer them when they feel truly intimate and authentic and because in that moment you really love someone, not just a quick pic to get your rocks off because you like their body (that could potentially be spread to others). That doesn't feel very loving or respectful to me and I don't think it ever will. If it's something that makes others feel loved, more power to them. Just not me.

But I'm worried if I date a guy in the future, which eventually I'm hoping to do, they're always going to want nudes. That there will always be a little piece of them that resents me for not sending them and loves me less. And there's thousands upon thousands of women who would be perfectly willing to send them and I'm not. It makes me really nervous and insecure to think that because I'm not willing to, or I'm just not as sexually charged in general, I either won't find anyone to date or they'll just date me to try to coerce me into that kind of relationship again.

I just want to know I'm not alone, that there are people in the world who don't enjoy that sort of thing. Whose relationship world isn't centered around nudes, sexting, porn, anything like that. Who, if I take a trip, will just text me to genuinely have a conversation and know how I'm doing because they miss my presence. Not because they're in the mood to bang. I just kind of feel alone in this sentiment sometimes and I'm worried it will leave me alone. And that worry is what's going to cause me to give in and do what makes me uncomfortable all over again if I get back in a relationship. Idk if I need advice, just people who know where I'm coming from.

@casiopea3199 Hey, thank you for sharing your story. I totally get where you are coming from. You want the romance, the connection, and everything that comes from having a complete relationship. It sounds like your last relationship was not compatible with the person that you are. I am sorry you had that situation to begin with. You're totally not alone here. I think that some people are just so lost in their sexual needs that they don't see the person. You are not just a body.

I'm so sorry for your experience. You don't owe a guy anything. Stick to you boundaries and you will weed out the guys who are less respectful so you can find someone better. *hugs*

Judging by the responses I feel I'm going to be vilified with this response but from the other end of this as the guy that gets refused those things I would like to point out that at least from my end I want those things from my fiance not because I think of her as just a body but because I have a deep emotional attachment to her and if im distant or there is a dry spell where I need to turn to self pleasure I would much prefer to see her and fantasize about her than anyone else. I'm not saying every situation is the same as mine I mean read the room but just remember not all of us are just driven by your body's to some of us it's much deeper we just need some visual stimulation. And I'm sorry if I've caused any waves

@intellectualFan9641 I think that's okay if you both partners are comfortable and are into it. However, the issue is more feeling entitled to it and being coercive about it, especially in the context of someone you don't know well online. I've had guys where I said "no, I'm not comfortable sorry" and they say things like "why not, come on..." which is really not okay and becomes harassment.
