Are women from USA scared of marriage?
Something has been bothering me a lot these days. Is it just me or majority of women from USA are scared of marriage. My 3-year relationship with my girlfriend just went down the drain after I proposed to her. It was a really great relationship so I thought, hey, maybe she
@thadv14 YMMV, but what if you never propose until they start dropping hints about marriage? If the first time you see someone, you ask them what they would like to name your kids or which college to send them to, that's probably going too far. So maybe the question is just finding the right balance of steps that you're both comfortable with making. If they are taking small steps, maybe large ones will scare them away. Maybe it applies throughout the relationship, from the first time you meet to after you've known one another for decades.

Your question is confusing. Your gf does not represent all the women from USA. She is her own person. Had she been expressing the idea of wanting marriage in general and wanting to marriage with you in particular? If you guys never talked about such issue, it is not too late. You can try to find out more now. There are tons of reasons to get married or not to get married. The right person will be on the same wave length as you. There wil be a true connection, for now and for the future if your goal is to have a long term, loving marriage which two people are committed to each other, for better or worse. Best of luck for you two!
What baffles me is the whole idea of marriage proposals in the first place. If you're really that clueless about what they want in the future, do you really think you're ready for marriage?

Hey there, hopefully you are doing well. There's a few things I would like to point out;
Something has been bothering me a lot these days. Is it just me or majority of women from USA are scared of marriage. (That's not an accurate statement, especially when this is based from one woman. A woman has to first a certain level of love, passion, attraction, commitment before she could start thinking about marriage) My 3-year relationship with my girlfriend just went down the drain after I proposed to her. (I believe you projected your high level of love and commitment on her without actually looking where she was at emotionally) It was a really great relationship so I thought, hey, maybe shes really the one. I prepared a very romantic proposal, informed her mom of my plan, but when I went down on one knee she turned me down. (This is very romantic and sweet, but it's always best to first wait until she bring the marriage topic first, that way you'll know this is what she wants. I don't think she was at that point emotionally for her to marry you) She said shes not ready to marry yet, said shes still building her career. (This are excuses of her to not marry you without hurting your feelings. It's very important to be aware of how she is with you, if she even gets a hint that you are more into her and marriage, then she will not feel comfortable with the marriage.) Also said shes still not ready to have a family. Were already turning 30 with great jobs and has our apartment. I thought by now she would be. Does she just dislike the idea of marriage? Was it me? Im really confused right now. (She was not at that emotional level of commitment and love yet, you should think back of certain things she has say about the relationship. I'm sure they are certain things she has brought up that you might have thought it's not that serious)
