Struggling to be alone
I am trying to distant myself from a three year ‘relationship’ where it was verbally abusive and one night got physically abusive. I’m trying to tell myself to leave and move forward but I’m terrified to be alone and I don’t have any friends so I’m desperate for him just to be able to talk to someone. I struggle with depression and anxiety and I’m just feeling really lost. Im turning 26 soon and I know if I want to be happy in life I need to learn to stand on my way I just don’t know how

Hello and thank you so much for sharing here. Talking here is an excellent first step, letting your feelings out. You do not deserve to be hurt, not ever, and I'm glad that you are reaching out and taking steps toward a better life for you. You are not alone, we are here with you. And you can always reach out and find someone to talk to here.
You are safe here, and it's a great place to practice talking for when you meet others. If you want to talk about your struggles, or just to practice talking and not being alone, you found a good place for both.
I am glad that you are here. Best wishes.
I am trying to learn to be alone. I have no friends and family around. So sad.

Hello, I am glad that you are here. It is a start - reaching out, talking to people, perhaps finding something in common. As Sting said, you're not alone in being alone. People can relate, and this is something to build on.
Thank you for sharing. I hope you find more good support here. Best wishes,
Jeff
Hi,
I am really sorry for the late reply. I just want to tell you, you are not alone with this. I can relate to that. However, the best thing I can advise, if you wouldn't mind me saying this, is try everything possible not to rely on this person. He does not sound like someone safe and reliable emotionally or physically.
I know this sounds ridiculous but hear me out for a second. The truth is you really don't need him. If you think about it, the situation is toxic to you right, it's adding to your stress and troubles. But, I know what it feels like to be alone all the time, and honestly, it's horrible. That's why, I have myself settled for any kind of attention in the past, even if it's not what I wanted truly for myself. I mean, it wasn't really my fault. I had explained to someone I was only looking to be friendly. Now I realize how naive that sounds.
If you wouldn't mind me trying to give you my feedback; try to find your circle, your people, but start out initially with what interests you. I promise you that there are a lot of good people in the world who truly want to help. But you have to find them also and work on yourself.
Please don't lose hope. I am very lonely and I call hotlines to talk when I have no one. I know it's not ideal, this happens at times, not all the time when I go through periods of not seeing anyone. Right now I have to deal with some personal issues and not able to leave my house.
The truth is you are a free agent, you can really do whatever you want in life. I know it's scary but it should also be liberating at the same time.
I really hope this helps you in some way and hope I did not sound condescending in any way, and wish you the best
it is never too late to meet new friends and have new support people sticking with someone who is verbally or physically abusive to not be alone is sad..
many people like that cut their partners off from outside friends etc to keep them in a hostage type relationship .......
@toughTiger6481 Yes, good point. I agree with your last sentence also
Can you tell me your complete story mine was something like you but now I am happy with him on understanding what he really wants
And i understand breakups and stop talking avoiding is not the solution it makes problems bigger.
