can your feelings change back and forth ?
Long story short but after a long time together .... i have fallen OUT of love with my spouse.
I have zero feelings for him and makes me anxious and nauseous when he says he loves me.... i really do not feel anything for him anymore. Can that be reversed ? ... honestly i do not think so i have tried and can no longer fake it. i used to say yeah love you too etc but feels like such a LIE anymore
Not sure how or when it happened ...... i guess years of disconnect and fights and promises of change then change that last maybe 6 months etc and back to same ole thing... i no longer feel there is anything to fight for...... There has been zero physical contact and now as he makes an effort in that i am NOT attracted to him AT ALL. i think it may be feelings of anger of unresolved issues.
how can a person whom you knew so well got tingles when you saw them and was happy to see messages from end up being someone you wish would just disappear?
they want to FIX things but somehow which make zero sense to me is like a different person that know nothing i like .... buys items he THINKS i like .......but i have zero interest in...
hugs or kisses feel awkward like a really bad blind date.... idea of flirting was rubbing my hair felt like i was a dog being petted thought he would scratch behind by ear..........yuk This was a person who used to make my heart race and knew how to touch me ......now it is so awful and awkward.
Is it better i tell him the truth ... "hey too late nothing to save i have no feeling in that way about you anymore" or maybe if i get over some anger issues i might feel different?
You need to be honest, yes. Maybe he is also struggling. But if you want to try, I would HIGHLY recommend couples therapy. You will either work out your unresolved feelings or confirm you want to seperate. It's hard, I know the feeling.
I think they can. Wait, no, feelings can’t change.
…. Actually i feel that feelings can change, but sometimes can’t. Usually yes but sometimes not yes.
Okay, I thought about it some more and I feel that feelings you feel that havn’t changed CAN change and changed feelings can stay the same before feelings change again into different feelings.
I hope that clears things up.
Wow. Similar situation here. I feel like I am constantly starving for affection. I turn off and say 'ok, this is my life' and they he'll show affection and I lap it up like a starving puppy. Then I feel desperate and stupid and it's a whole cycle. He was never overly romantic, and I was fine with that, but I used to still write notes and stick them in his car or suitcase, but when the physical affection stopped I pulled back on all of that.
I guess the question you need to ask yourself is, despite how you feel now, do you even WANT to make it work? Yes, I believe feelings can change, as mine have. If you WANT to get back what you had (or create something new together), maybe see if he's willing to go to couples counseling. I mentioned it to my husband and he didn't want to because 'he didn't need it.' I'm at a place in my marriage where I pretty much feel like I don't deserve true happiness because of issues I've caused in the past. (I know, logically that is not accurate, but I fell like I am destined to live in a limbo of sorts. I just would never wish this on anyone else).
If you feel like you want to fix what's broken, talk to him. You have to decide what's best for you and how you want your future to be. 💜
@ShyBean0473
everyone say couples counseling ........... Worthless IMO if only one party is doing the work.... i KNOW him will be a bobble head nodding and crap then minute out the door bitching about we spent that much on total BS
He is having issues i have tried to help but i cannot fix what he wont see is broken.... he is simply NOT the same person and i do not see much of a future with this version of him
I have to say yes. I’ve been with people who I thought were everything at the beginning…butterflies in the stomach, tingling all over electricity in our kisses and then just like someone pulled the plug and it died. I think it can be a buildup of stuff you didn’t like or see as partner quality. For one I was with someone who wasn’t in a financial place to pay for anything. We were teens but his parents left him to his aunt to take care of and because he didn’t follow their college plan for him he didn’t get an allowance anymore. I wasn’t working but had full parental support so obviously if we went out to eat I paid and it would be awkward if I just ate by myself. So after a while that just built up inside of me and I just saw him as unattractive I think physically and mentally. One time I lent him money and he said he accidentally threw the change away with the receipt. That got under my skin. Things like that seem to be what cause me to lose the interest. With a current partner not too long in I saw him sloppy drunk unable to take care of himself and it was a major turnoff. I had already invested a lot quickly into the relationship so I didn’t call it quits or take any distance from him. I look back and see those as dealbreaker qualities. I ask myself if I loved him would I really feel that it’s a dealbreaker but I don’t know the answer.
so long story short from my personal experiences yes feelings can change usually as you get to know the person and see they weren’t all you thought they were or cracked up to be. You mentioned anger and stuff and unresolved issues. I’d say that has a lot to do with it because like I said maybe not seeing him as you did before. It hurts me to think that the person I’m with sees me in a more glorified and loving light than I see them. It hurts to hurt someone. Is that why you want to save it or because of all you invested in it? Couples therapy which someone said, I’ve never done myself yet but I second that it’s worth a shot and if anything it will guide you all through the steps you need to take to help the relationship either prosper or “uncouple” . Does he know where your feelings stand?
couples therapy was not successful as we did recently try ......he does not participate....
i can see what you are talking about in past relationships and good example of things just being nope i cannot deal with that........
My feelings of anger etc are more focused on his effort or lack of in relationship ........
he used to be there when i needed and counted now it was oh well ..... he used to do so many things well ... very handy but recently when we needed a new sink he bought one online and even though he measured did not fit so he decides to MAKE it fit normally not a big issue but he did not even move items then started using a router etc dust and debris all over had to wash every thing because he was LAZY to not say hey i need to do some demolition so we will need to cover or move things etc....
this would have never happened with the person he was even lets say 5 years ago .... he hugs me like he was forced to .... feels awful .... he seems oblivious that i no longer have any feelings.
it is if every little thing is annoying and awful .... maybe it is me............ maybe i previously enjoyed him slurping his food or blowing his nose at the dinner table. or sitting each night not watching tv but just scrolling through the menu of programs ... i call it his favorite show " what else is on "
@toughTiger6481 relatable relatable relatable. it seems like even mundane things are causing issue like I can imagine the sink thing you say the person he was five years ago would've handled the situation better and done a better job but do you think maybe the person you were then or how you felt for him then would've not even cared because you loved him regardless of anything he did?
the complacency like the dinner table habits etc I get they add up and just take out the passion too I feel. and for whatever reason men seem to be extremely bad at detecting when a woman is not really feeling it and faking affection or just not caring at all. it's so easy for a relationship to go on without the man noticing she's not interested because for whatever reason guys can't sense the fact she's not really feeling it
I am stuck in the debate of wondering if it would ever really be better with any person or if simply when you truly love someone these habits don't bother you. or if it all just wears off. sometimes I think maybe I'm just wired to need a new someone every so often to keep the passion alive because I will eventually just get tired of whoever
