Self-love🍃

User Profile: cheerfulKiwi1776

Self-love is rarely a sudden breakthrough. More often, it’s a quiet decision you make over and over again—a choice to stay on your own side, even when everything feels heavy.

If you are trying to rebuild a gentler relationship with yourself, consider these four reflections:

How do you talk to yourself when no one else is listening?

Notice the tone of your inner dialogue when you make a mistake. Are you treating yourself like an enemy, or are you offering the same grace you would extend to a friend?

What are you holding onto that no longer serves your peace?

Self-love isn't just about adding healthy habits; it's also about letting go. Are there expectations, past mistakes, or toxic dynamic patterns you need permission to release?

Where in your life do you need to set a boundary?

Protecting your energy isn't selfish—it's survival. What is one area where saying "no" to someone else means saying a necessary "yes" to your own well-being?

What does your body and mind need from you right now?

Forget what you should be doing for a moment. If you pause, take a deep breath, and listen closely. Do you need rest, movement, connection, or simply space to breathe?

Real self-love doesn't mean having it all figured out. It just means showing up for yourself, one gentle choice at a time.

Answer the questions below, in the comments:

  1. How do you talk to yourself when no one else is listening?
  2. What are you holding onto that no longer serves your peace?
  3. Where in your life do you need to set a boundary?
  4. What does your body and mind need from you right now?

There is no pressure: share as much or as little as you want.

Self-love is something we all deserve, so why not have it?🍃

How do you talk to yourself when no one else is listening?

I look in the mirror and literally talk to myself. By my own hype person.

What are you holding onto that no longer serves your peace?

Insecurities.

Where in your life do you need to set a boundary?

Screentime.

What does your body and mind need from you right now?

Consistency.

Hey there!

Talking to yourself In the mirror and being your own hype person is so amazing! Points for you🤍 (affirmations might add to this if you dont use them already)

Insecurities, is something many of us struggle with (myself as well) and i understand how hard they can be to handle sometimes. But know that you are great as you are🍃

Screentime. Ughhh I have to control mine as well. (I thought teens struggled mostly with that😭 basically because i think adults have it more figured out than us) but how you feel is valid. And I hope you get to stop the excessive screen time ✨️

Consistency. Yeah thats great! We all need this. Hope you manage to have consistency in your life.🫂

Gosh, great points there except you just made me feel so old lol. I'm only a little older (in my head I'm a baby). Adulting is hard. It's just that adults have a more sophisticated way of disguising their screentime as being productive haha. Sending love and good vibes!

Thank you cheerful kiwi for such a great post!

  1. I am sort of hard on myself when no one else is listening. Mainly over school since I'm not someone who can just learn from lectures. I think of myself as being a supportive friend to me, but I do get burned out. I never really beat myself up over feeling not smart, but sometimes I feel bad over grades then get over it.

  2. I think I may be holding onto a friend group that no longer serves me peace. It's just the dynamics, but they're good people so I'm trying to stay on a sort of emotional distance.

  3. I think I need to set a boundary just in the moments where I need to work because I can get distracted easily.

  4. I just need a break, honestly.

@Paliloveyourself

Thank you for sharing such an honest reflection! It’s great that you’ve already developed a supportive inner dialogue, even if school stress and burnout occasionally test it. Recognizing that you learn differently than traditional lecture style is a strength, not a flaw, and being able to shake off bad grades shows solid resilience. Navigating changing friend dynamics is tough—especially when people are genuinely good, but the overall group energy no longer brings you peace. Maintaining a healthy emotional distance while you figure things out is a mature approach. Setting strict study boundaries to protect your focus will likely give you the space and quiet you need right now. Definitely take that well-deserved break!🍃

idk why I do this but I tend to talk really bad about myself and beat myself up over the smallest of things.

There's honestly probably a reallyyy long list of things that I need to let go of... but idk how to and it also scares me to let go.

I probably need to learn to set boundaries on others who think they get to control me, also probably need to learn to say no to things that I'm not comfortable with.

idk what I really need rn, maybe just a break from all the chaos.

@IzzyGamer

It is completely valid to feel overwhelmed when you are navigating self-criticism, past baggage, and boundary issues all at once. Beating yourself up often comes from a place of trying to maintain control when things feel uncertain, but recognizing this pattern is the first step toward breaking it. Letting go is terrifying because familiarity feels safer than the unknown, even when that familiarity causes distress. You don't have to tackle the entire list at once—start small. Saying "no" to a minor inconvenience or catching a single negative thought without judgment builds the muscle you need for bigger changes. Give yourself permission to step back from the chaos and rest; clarity usually comes after you've allowed yourself to recharge.🍃

Thanks for mentioning this topic! I actually thought about it several days ago.

1. I noticed that sometimes I can be very strict and harsh with myself. I would never treat other people the way I treat myself. I was deeply influenced by a saying: "Be strict with yourself and be kind to others." However, I've started to feel that there is something strange about this idea. If we always have to control how we treat ourselves and how we treat others, there may come a day when we simply don't have enough energy to keep controlling ourselves. And that's when we may easily end up treating others harshly, too. That's when I realized I should treat myself like a friend—taking care of myself, supporting myself, challenging myself sometimes, and congratulating myself from the bottom of my heart on what I've achieved.

2. I am still holding onto a relationship that does me no good. I still think that if I have a chance, I might be able to change the situation. I might be able to do something good for both of us. But the truth is, I don't have the courage to keep trying. I've tried asking other people for help, but nobody could help me. Then I realized that this is not a good place for me to stay. It's time to find a safe place where people support each other, especially at this stage of my life. If they can run that place well, let them. I need to find a new place where I can grow.

3. When other people don't value my time, especially when they look down on me or make me feel like my existence doesn't matter.

4. Enough sleep and a regular, fulfilling life.

Wow, thank you so much for sharing such a powerful and thoughtful reflection! Reading through your points truly touched my heart.

Your insight in #1 about how exhausting it is to constantly enforce strict control over ourselves is so profound. Realizing that self-compassion actually gives us the energy to be genuinely kind to others—rather than pushing ourselves to burnout—is a massive breakthrough. Reframing your relationship with yourself to be like a true friend who supports, challenges, and celebrates you is what self-love is all about.

Recognizing when a relationship no longer serves your growth (#2) and identifying spaces where your time isn't valued (#3) takes immense courage. It can be so hard to let go of the idea that we can fix or change a bad situation, but walking away to protect your peace and search for a safe, supportive environment is the ultimate act of self-worth. You deserve to be in places where your presence is cherished, not taken for granted.

And never underestimate point #4—prioritizing rest and a regular routine is the foundation for all of this! Thank you for opening up and sharing your journey so openly with us. Keep choosing yourself and finding those spaces where you can truly thrive. ✨

@stormieandpaws

Thank you so much for opening up and sharing such a deeply personal and honest reflection with us. Reading through your answers truly moved me.

First, it is so beautiful to hear how far you’ve come in how you speak to yourself! Knowing that God is always listening and speaking to yourself with more positivity is such a powerful testament to your inner growth and faith.

Carrying regrets about the past—especially when it comes to your children and the difficult things you all survived—is a heavy burden to hold. Please give yourself grace. You were navigating an incredibly exhausting and abusive situation with limited support, doing the best you could with what you had at the time. Forgiving yourself and letting go of "what ifs" is a continuous journey, but recognizing that those regrets no longer serve your peace is a huge step toward healing.

Setting boundaries with close friends can be so tough, especially when you’ve already had to set several. Wanting to step back from gossip to protect your heart and values is a clear sign of growing self-respect. Keep honoring that boundary—it’s okay to protect your peace, even with people you care about.

Lastly, learning to listen to your body and honor its need for rest while dealing with chronic pain is such a tender form of self-care. Feeding your spirit through worship music and reading the Bible will surely bring that much-needed peace and comfort to your mind, too. Thank you for your vulnerability and for being such a meaningful part of this community. Sending you so much strength and light! 🙏✨
