Talking about self harm without embarrassment

Self-harm is something many people struggle with.

And it should NEVER be something to be embarrassed of.

Many people struggle with self harm and many of them feel embarrassed to talk about it. Many are ashamed and many dont want to be judged. This SHOULD change.

People who have self harmed or still are self harming doesn't mean that they are thinking of suicide.

Its their coping mechanism. Not a healthy one but their coping mechanism.

All of us should be supporting those people.

The goal of this forum post is for everyone to share their thoughts, questions, stories, concerns and whatever related to self harm.

Always feel free to text me and Always feel free to talk about self harm: its not something you should be embarrassed of.

Take care and be safe ✨️

Okay so this answer goes to both: @bestJet5874 and @calmPurple5715

I think you should talk to your parents about it. If they are supportive that would help. If they aren't find someone trusted enough to talk about it.

Now how will you talk about it? You should tell them calmly what you did and how you are feeling and why you did that. If you dont feel comfortable on face to face send a long text explaining what is happening.

You shouldn't be alone right now. Self harming is a tough thing to carry and a really heavy one. I really believe in you two. You csn improve and become the best version of yourself. You can find better more healthy coping mechanisms.

I m proud of you for trying though.

Please be safe and take care. If someone of you 2 ever needs something I m open for a text ✨️🫶🫂

@cheerfulKiwi1776

Tahnk you, you are so right.

I can count the number of people who haven't self-harmed on my hand, at least in my social circle. It is such a huge problem and shouldn't be hidden.

I had been struggling with this for years without anyone knowing and even when I somehow managed to get better, still no one knew. That feeling of embarassment, being afraid to be percieved as weak or crazy, was stopping me from getting the help I needed. A couple of months ago I finaly told my friends and they were all supportive and told me to go to them if it even got bad again. It was such a relief to know that I wasn't judged.

The point is that being somewhere where you can talk about self-harm and mental issues overall is so important. I hope that this topic will start to be more discussed in the society and wanna say to everyone who is struggling with self-harm now, that it can and will get better.

@exploringnarnia

I see. I m really glad you talked. I m open for any 1-1 chat if you want.

Also, yeah I think it should be more discussed and accepted by society. Stigma shouldn't exist with just self harming. But we are here to make this better

I'm posting under here to say this. 2 days clean! Bit 2 days is when I start to want it. I'm kind of scared but I'm continuing to do everything other than hurt myself. I say 2 days clean but I have hit myself a bit, mostly my problem is other stuff that creates visible injury. I have been listening to The Black Parade album by mcr a lot to cope. The song famous last words especially. The line "I am not afraid to keep on living" just sticks out to me. Because I want to keep on living. I mean, I know I will in the literal sense. But living. Like smelling the grass and the ocean breeze. Like actually feeling alive. I don't think I'll get there unless I recover and get clean.

@pinkiepie1724

Look relapse is normal in those situations. You shouldn't give up. Many people will maybe pity you, judge you, say you are overreacting, say you do that just for attention and not understand you and that makes it frustrating and really hard to cope with alone. So in this situation we need to find people who support us and understand us and can help us as much as they can. Try avoiding not talking about this with people you think wont get it. And if someone does one of the bad things I mentioned before you just ignore him. They don't understand and I sometimes feel grateful they don't because I would never want someone to go through all those stuff I go through.

I m extremely proud of you for even trying. This a really big step. Some people don't even try and stay in the loop of relapse. Those people need help as well as you need.

You deserve to be loved, taken care of and be seen. You don't deserve anything bad. Its up to you if you ll seek help and change and I know you can make it.

I believe in you buddy. Take slow steps, let yourself feel, live in the moment and you ll make it.

Help is always avaliable ✨️

We are never alone🩵

Take care and be safe buddy🫂

@cheerfulKiwi1776

So, I know I shouldn't, but how do I do some deep cuts without the problem of inner reflexes of my brain that stops me because of the pain? It's bad, I know, but I just can't go deeper than some light scratches and I feel like I won't feel better until my blood comes out, I can't do anything for it. I know I should stop and that I shouldn't even start but I feel like I need it, and I actually need it
