7 CUPS to Bridge Gap Between Generations
Dear Friends,
I submitted this post to 7Cups management and also would like to post it here to implement this program ASAP. I recently had an experience of visiting a senior nursing home and was shocked to see how unattended we have left the most experienced, humble and kind part of our society and are unable to utilize them & their golden experience to help carve the future of new generation. I saw hundreds of eyes looking in the air without any purpose of their lives and how unnecessary we think they are. Learning from my own experience and knowing how important my elders have been in crafting my and life, I was seriously shocked and thought of launching a platform through which I can connect our seniors as listeners and guide for the new generation as I believe that it is a win-win for both the worlds. There is no better listener and guide for our new generation than those unwanted seniors counting their days to be over without any purpose of their lives.
I immediately started doing research on finding group of programmers who would help me create a portal for this purpose. Upon my continued research, I found 7cups which is kind of the same thing which I was thinking on developing with a different emphasis as explained above. As my purpose of launching this platform is just to help and not any sort of profitability, I would love to partner up with 7cups or even working with 7cups or any other organization to initiate this and to see if 7cups team would like to assist me on developing this platform and making it successful. I have no problem even giving out this idea and seeing someone else making it work if that may be of more interest as I truly want our seniors to be an active part of this society and strongly believe that our young generation needs them badly. Unlike few decades ago, a huge communication gap has occurred between generations and technology is considered the main culprit for this. I strongly believe that we should do something for our seniors and our young generation badly needs them and technology can help bridge this gap with this platform. I guess that would make it win, win and win. Let's get the discussion started with the hope that we can make this connection happen before it may be too late.

i love your idea, but they can start as listeners and become mentors through their journey, no? I'm a teen listener and I have a mentor who is 50 years old. They can also become a mentor one day
Actively promoting 7 Cups to seniors is a wonderful idea! I've read about initiatives that paired seniors in different countries with young students for language learning, and 7 Cups is another venue where an internet connection is all that one needs to connect people who have so much to offer, yet are often comparatively neglected, with others all over the world!
This is a neat idea! I'm gonna tag a few people who would be interested in reading this, or could get it into the hands of people who would be interested.

@Cadence - thanks for tagging me in and sorry it took me so long to reply. I believe this is brilliant. Somebody told me recently about a Japanese project to put nurseries and senior centers together. It made perfect sense. That's a bit off topic but I guess the thread in my mind is connecting people when we might easily overlook the possibility of such connections.
