People are still having this issue
Maybe the current system of how the free "trial" is going, needs to change. Perhaps instead of automatically charging their accounts, have a confirmation page FIRST where they can click and say "yes I want to continue therapy and I'm aware that 7cups will, from this point on, charge me". So basically, instead of having to rush to cancel in time only to find out their rent money is gone forever, they will simply be blocked from using the therapy option until they confirm the "purchase". Because, with the current system, I UNDERSTAND that you don't intend on having everyone get 3 days of free therapy and that's it, but pretty much no one comes along with that understanding. You could say "too bad so sad they should have known when they put in their bank info" but I'd like to think the site has a little more sympathy than that?
What would be even better is if you didn't take peoples bank info at all until the 3 days are over...just have the page that says "your free trail has ended! you can continue using therapy for [however much per month it is, idr]"
I mean a lot of people already see you as a shady business from this...since 3 days doesn't really tell you the exact date and time, idk the exact way it works since Ive never tried it. But I personally wouldn't even try it because basic internet safety instinct says to not give out bank info unless I'm prepared to have my money withdrawn from me. Anyway, I've never heard of so many people having in issue with a free trial before.
Might be worth looking into...
And if this idea is appalling then maybe get rid of the words "free trial" entirely because typically free trials have no strings attached...maybe say something like "get paid therapy, the first few days are on us!"
@Phthalo Thank you for your suggestions!
@ASilentObserver Wasn't the problematic "free trial" eventually removed? I don't see it advertised any more. If so, this complaint from 2 years ago may have helped 7 Cups to do the right thing.
