Our guidelines say:

Please choose a head shot (picture of your face), nature scene, art/symbol/image (i.e, Hope), or animal. Please do not include pictures of famous people, sexually suggestive pics, or cartoon pics. You must be fully clothed in your picture.

But plenty of profile pictures are not head shots. Some are head shots that obscure the person's face. Plenty of them are cartoons. Some only contain words. These kinds of profile pictures mostly seem pretty harmless, but they are strictly against the rules! Should I flag these profiles?

@RarelyCharlie are you okay over there?

the language about "cartoon pics" should be removed, clearly. the items listed are suggestions, not strict regulations. also these are not even "guidelines", much less rules. it is an addendum to the "add a profile pic" button.

you know some of these things are out of date & this is not the place to request that they be updated. open a support ticket if you think it is important enough to probably have a meeting on and then assign dev time to.

tl;dr no, you should not flag these profiles.

@RarelyCharlie I agree, I've brought this up a few times (and quite some time ago the first time) and no changes have ever been made. Part of the rule listed for profile pictures has been enforced, causing at least one person to be upset, while other parts are completely ignored.

I also think 'fully clothed' needs an explanation. This can vary by culture, for some exposed hair would not be 'fully clothed'.

Yes, it's not at all obvious what fully clothed is intended to mean.

I spent a little time trying to write an improved rule, but it's really difficult and I gave up frown
