Site showing people as on when they not
Ok this feels funny to say but I’m seeing a lot of green lights on when browsing listeners. I wouldn’t think that a bad thing but it’s all all hours of the day and some people’s light never turn off. Also I’m not getting a response from anyone. So I’m thinking odds of this many being online and not accepting a request seems unlikely. Not sure who I report a bug to so I just leaving this here and hope it’s looked at by the right person.
Hiya @JenJennyJen welcome to the community!
A lot of green lights likely because this is a global platform with people from different timezones so likely more people available at different times too? 😮
But it is odd indeed if they don't reply. When listeners set their status online/ marked green, they are expected to accept chats and reply soon.
It is certainly unprofessional for those marked online to not respond to a request or never reply to the chat, and I get how frustrating it can be as a member reaching out for support to see their request getting ignored despite the green signal, and from multiple listeners too?!
There could be multiple reasons to such though.
When listeners join us here their status is marked online automatically, which some may forget or aren't aware about turning off when they go offline, since they are new to the platform.
Other times listeners are reminded to use their status button effectively and be professional about it.
Neither excuses the ghosting/ never accepting chats despite showing online and never even bothering to respond to inform if anything, and I'd definitely recommend you share feedback on these listeners on the chat screen when you click on the three dots and get to the menu.
If you're not able to see the leave chat feedback option or want to report the listener directly, you can use this form: https://help.7cups.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360002045973
Screenshots are helpful in strengthening your reports.
Sharing feedback is essential, as it helps mentors pass on relevant resources and support to the listeners, to improve their skills and become more professional as a listener here!
Perhaps you can try browsing for the active verified listeners when you need support here? https://www.7cups.com/BrowseListeners/?badge=0&find=&sort=&category=&ageGroup=&listType=&gender=&religion=&country=&language=&verifiedlistener=on
I hope you do recieve good support here! 💛
No. I don’t think you understand. This isn’t human error or being ignored on purpose. This is a site error marking people as online when they not. It’s way too many people for it to be human error. This is a glitch in the system and whoever maintains the site needs to look at this. There are some people marked as online for over two days straight now at all hours of the day.
@JenJennyJen I agree that somethings not working right based on the numbers online, it's way more than usual.
You can put in a report here https://help.7cups.com/hc/en-us/requests/new/ it is for all types of reports, including site bugs. I'll play around with browse listeners a bit try to see if there's a trend for the jump in online and will make a report too.
There often are listeners who appear online and aren't because they forgot to change their status as it's a manual option, not automatic.
@JenJennyJen
Oh okay, if you feel it's a technical issue then (which I'm glad about lol, kinda means our listeners aren't ignoring members which is a yay thing), please submit a tech review report here- https://help.7cups.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360002045893 so the tech team can take over this! 😊
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou When listeners join us here their status is marked online automatically
I thought that was turned off due to the high level of non-responses but maybe that is happening again?
@AffyAvo
I wasn't sure if it was turned off forever but that's honestly the first thing that came to mind, plain from observational experience here too, new listeners showing online when they first join us! :o
Turning this off does sound like a good idea though!
@JenJennyJen
It may come from listeners with good intentions but little time? You might also be right in guessing that some of them have no consideration.
Those "lights" are a bother for me (a listener) as well, so mine is always on red. If I left it on green, I would be a chatbot.
On the app, ppl have to manually change their status, so that could be what’s happening. Online (js using cups from a browser) it will automatically update for u, but not in the app so ya. That’s my experience at least idk.
Maybe it's because of my experience with other programs, but I suspect that a lot of people leave their machines on then walk away. In fact, some never turn their computer off, so they may show as signed in for months at a time. If the listener is using a phone app, the same problem can happen. I don't have a phone app, but if I did, I'd program the notification to have a different sound for 7cups than for other notifications. If someone's phone has the same notification sound for texts and other things, and they receive a lot of notifications, the listener may end up ignoring them.
I think the only sure way to fix it is for the program's software automatically sign the listener off after a period of inactivity.
