Hi everyone & As-salamu alaykum (Peace be upon you). A while ago @GlenM made a post acknowledging that we are a diverse community with a variety of celebrations/important days. @Tazzie has been doing a good of ensuring we celebrate/acknowledge the different celebrations through either forum events or posts. In an attempt to continue coming together and celebrating the important days/festivities, I wanted to take a few minutes to pin down a post to acknowledge and celebrate the start of the Muslim holy month, Ramadan. Tomorrow and in some days, the day after tomorrow the month will begin.

It is the month of fasting where Muslims fast for a month, focusing on their religion and their connection with God. We have a very diverse community and therefore we have Muslims among us! Many of whom will be fasting. You can read more here.

You can be supportive by doing the following:

✰ Be sparing in food/drinks talk in public rooms (recommended, not required)

✰ We use a lot of ice-breakers in our community (forums/rooms). You can choose to avoid food/drink-related activities/ice-breakers. (recommended, not required)

✰ Leaders, be mindful of the workload of your team members and offer support if they need a break

✰ Wishing Ramadan Mubarak

Wishing Ramadan Mubarak to all Muslims of our community! We hope that you find peace and joy in this blessed month.

Feel free to answer one or all of the following questions.

✰ Do you have any plans for the month?

✰ What does the month mean to you?

@Hope

Wa-assalamualaikum! (And may peace be upon you too)!

Ramadan Kareem, and jazakallah hu khairan (may Allah bring you more goodness for this goodness you bring).

1. My plan for this Ramadan

* Soulful Sujud: in the past few months (even years), I had been going bad, mental health wise. I got pretty disorganized in my thinking patterns. Talking in the sujud helps me get my mind together and I had completely stopped performing it during the period in which I was going bad. So, going to take this time to heal myself in this way. Wish me best with the healing!

* Since it is the lockdown, I get to spend this month at home with everyone so I am going to help with the cooking as when I'm living alone I don't really make any efforts to prepare suhoor and iftaar (the opening and closing meals of the fast) going with whatever.

2. What ramadan means to me: A blessed time; peace; mindfulness.

Thank you for these thoughtful questions and thank you for reading! Have a nice day xoxo

ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّٰهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ (Peace be upon you, as well as the mercy of God and his blessings.)

Ramadan Kareem to all those celebrating 💙

- May Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى grant you and I the strength and opportunity to make the most of this month.

- May Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى grant you and I ease in completing our fasts and other forms of Ibadah.

- May Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى make the good deeds you and I complete this month a means for us entering Paradise and finding success both here and after.

- May Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى grant you and I, beautiful & healthy moments with loved ones, protection from illnesses, and the strength and patience to get through difficult times.

- May Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى give all of us members, listeners, and administration the strength and patience necessary to keep 7 Cups of Tea a safe & supportive & loving environment.

- May Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى protect and help everyone here on the platform with their struggles and grant all of us have better days.

Ramadan is a lot of things, and so no one quote or phrase can truly summarize all the different aspects of this beautiful month - at least none that I'm aware of. 💙 For that reason, here are some of the quotes I believe give a glimpse as to what Ramadan is about.

"An opportunity"

"O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self-restraint" - Qur'an Surah Baqarah, Verse 183 [02|183]

"With pure respect and pure love for myself and others, I rest my weary knees, the crackled palms of my hands, and my forehead onto the ground as I seek reconciliation for my wrong-doings. May this message reach you in better spirits and may it bring ease to pain and old wounds now open." - Liv

[Gentle Reminders]

*gentle hugs*

Life is hard, life can be a pain, but in trying again, in trying with friends, you find why life is beautiful. So, to someone reading this right now, you might be currently going through something extremely difficult, *deep breaths* you're not alone. Every single person commenting on this forum, and every single person viewing this forum, is your friend, and all of us are here to support you the best we can. Ramadan, while without a doubt is a significant month for Muslims, they aren't the only ones who receive the benefits of this month. This month is also a time to check on our friends, our loved ones, our community. And 7 Cups of Tea, without a doubt, is all three of those things.

You're human, so are we. :) Let's work together this month, and the months to come, to build happier and healthier lives 💙 The following is a message of hope to anyone going into this month. Wishing you all the best! 💙

"As nightfall sets the stage for new yet pre-historic rays of charged sunlight, the compounded fears and judgments of yesterday are sifted away. All, while the hopes of today and eons before are rudely awaken from their hibernate-like state so that they may bring forth their unrelenting rage and beauty. Today is a new day. Today is day one. And our path, still fogged and unwalked upon; lies before us whether we want it to or not. And if it is indeed in our nature to fall as humans, let's walk our path, but fall forward with each and every new discovery." - Liv

@Hope Awww! Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh This was such a nice thing to read right after fajr laugh

Ramadan Kareem to everyone! May Allah grant us all peace and blessing throughout the month--and the rest of our lives.

This Ramadan I would just like to strengthen my faith and be more consistent in prayer. I hadn't grown up practicing, so every Ramadan feels like a fresh start to be better. Last night was actually the first time praying taraweeh. Not as daunting as I thought it would be, so I'm feeling pretty good right now lol.

For me, Ramadan means a chance of spiritual renewal I guess. In the past, I struggled a lot with fasting and either felt like I couldn't do it, or that I wasn't good enough. I almost always felt very depressed. It was like that last year too, but Alhumdulillah I'm hopeful this year will be better because I choose to accept that I'm not perfect, and inshallah whatever I am able to accomplish this month will be enough. I guess in a way I also now view Ramadan as a month of forgiveness, not just by the grace of Allah. It's a month to learn to practice self-forgiveness, compassion, and gentleness; an opportunity to emulate the best qualities of Allah.

Well, that's how I view it anyways wink
