I agree that ALL lives should matter. The "slogan" Black Lives Matter - (because that is truly what it is), is not meant to diminish any other race. Please try to look beyond the words / slogan to understand the meaning and pain behind it.

To have an adolescent write a song "I Just Wanna Live" when he should be thinking about playing with friends or getting good grades, he is writing a song about staying alive because he too understands that he lives in a country that doesn't value his life. -- and yes, we realize his grammar is incorrect, but, most of us overlooked it because we feel this baby's pain.

As I stated in my post below, it's impossible to understand OUR pain right now if you have not walked in our skin. We will never heal as a nation until everyone (individually and collectively) examines their hearts and are honest with themselves about what they see.

This will take work. Unfortnately, this 400+ year old problem will not be solved in a day.

Thank you again for your veiw. I'm going to bow out gracefully from this discussion on 7CUPs and I'll continue to pray for ALL LIVES because GOD truly values all of us EQUALLY.

@pamharley003 it's a good thing that you say this, having studied human rights for so long now I ah e come to the realization that there are so many violations of human rights against all peoples, genders, groups, cultures, etc. and it takes one or two incidents to highlight the plight of a particular group, and rightly so, we need more people to be aware of their human rights and how they are giving those very rights that their forefathers fought so hard for away. The USA has one of the best constitutional systems in the world, and what we are seeing are people expressing their anger, which they should take to the Supreme Court. If there is one thing I have learned don't be so quick to give away your rights just because you have someone telling you there is an enemy, or that peoples rights need to be curtailed in order to fight an unseen and unknown enemy. We had that in South Africa for many decades but we ar slowly but surely reclaiming the balance back.

@pamharley003 would just like to point out something on this Slogan issue. One should Never assume that you know what people have been through! I live in South Africa and have spent my entire life fighting for justice and against racial discrimination and other forms of discrimination, and not only do I find those words concerning but utterly disturbing and there is an inherent assumption contained in the slogan "that others can never understand the pain we are feeling". Mention was made of a child writing a song, etc. But what does one say to families whose children were slaughtered? And the oldest was only eleven years old? We were always taught never to assume because to assume is to make an ass out of you and me. There are people currently rioting and showing their displeasure about "black lives mattering" (not excusing any others) yet how many of those very same people who are causing such distraction and atrocities themselves, "whilst they fight for the cause", are concerned with the millions of black lives that are dying in Africa because of adject poverty preventing them from eating or having a roof over their heads, clean water, or even basic medical artention, why don't those lives matter - or are they too "black"? When actions are taken to the extreme in purstuit of any cause we must be careful that we do not make ourselves guilty of the same thing that we are fighting against, i believe its called hypocrisy.
