Don't really know where to post this, submitted a bug report already, forum subscribe button

So I have noticed and a few others too, that when you post to the forums you don't get subscribed, and it you press subscribe the button doesn't turn its usual grey but rather stays the green that means you aren't subscribed and then if you refresh or go back to that page, you're not subscribed anymore. This is frustrating because I am missing out on replying as fast as possible to threads where I have posted to support in.

I recommend everyone tag those they are replying to in a perfect way without spelling mistakes until this is fixed so replies aren't missed.

Hey @HopieRemi! I hope you are well. Thank you for letting us know! If there are tech issues anyone is experiencing the best thing to do is report it to support@7cups.com with the following:

  1. What is the bug you encountered?
  2. What part of 7 Cups does this problem affect - 1:1 chat, group chat, community, therapy, growth path or something else?
  3. Did you run into this problem on the web, the iOS app or the Android app?
  4. Which account were you signed in to & was it as a Member or Listener?
  5. When did you run into this problem? Did it happen more than once? Is it still happening?
  6. What steps could we take to re-create the issue?

I did submit a bug report. This was just me telling others so they can be aware that they’re not gonna be alerted about threads they’re replying to

@HopieRemi Yes, this is useful for all website users to know. Subscribe and upvote are both broken. It affects the main website and also the mobile version.

In the app they are both working normally, so if you really want to subscribe to a thread (or upvote it) the only way at present is to use the app. Not everyone can do this, of course, and it is very inconvenient for website users.

What's happened is that a lot of the code that makes the forum work has been rewritten, mostly for no obvious reason at all, and the quality of the new code has been poor, leading to a lot of mistakes.

Subscribe previously relied on this file:

https://www.7cups.com/forum/ajax/subscribeThread.php

You can see for yourself that it doesn't exist now. Someone deleted it! They also deleted the file for upvote.

Alternative files are used by the app, but they work in a completely different way. They look like:

https://www.7cups.com/apiv2/forum/thread/123456/subscribe (but just accessing the file doesn't do anything useful).

This means the website will have to be modified to fix the problem. I hope someone is already working on it, but we have no way to know.

It would be quicker if someone could simply restore the files they deleted Winking

Ah Damn this reminds me of when I accidentally deleted the sound files on my old computer and suddenly my audios didn’t work 😂 hope they restore or fix it soon.

@HopieRemi Clearing my browser cache has fixed it.

7 Cups usually bumps a version number to ensure that new code overwrites the cache, but on this occasion they must have forgotten to do that.

@HopieRemi Well, it depends on your browser. It's not the same as history or cookies.

In this browser (Chromium) it's in Settings under "Clear browsing data" and the only one I cleared is called "Cached images and files".

I can manually subscribe although I haven't tested it out with notifications. Threads do show up in my list of forum subscribed threads at least.
it just doesn't automatically happen after posting.
I'm not using the app.
