Feature Update: Phased Chat 2.0 System
Hi everyone! As you know we've been making some updates to our interface, starting with the feed, then the headers and now the chat interface.
Today is the start of a 2 week phased update to the chat system for the site. The chat system powers the chat page itself, 1-1 chats, group chats, how members and listeners are connected together, and many other parts of the site. The new system has some UI changes and many functionality updates behind the scenes that have been requested for a while (e.g. the ability to refresh a group chat page!).
Initially, you should not notice much change apart from the chat list/inbox on the homepage which has been refreshed. Over the next few days, the updates that are rolled out should be invisible to you and you shouldn’t notice any interruptions or changes. If you do spot any functionality bugs, please do let us know.
It will be later in the process (e.g. next week) when the UI changes will become more widely available. At that point, you will be able to choose which chat system you use (v1 or v2). Once we are happy that the new system is stable, all users will be moved over to the Chat 2.0 system.
We will share more details about the upgrades and new features available in Chat 2.0 very soon.
Note: if you are having any issues, we recommend updating your web browser to the latest version

Sounds good. I still don't know why the headers needed to be changed, though...
@Heather225 the order of the text in a few of my chats seem to be out of order, I send something but the replies come after but appears BEFORE I sent it (the time stamps show 11:25, 11:26, 11:58, 11:34 for example)
As many mentioned the constant need to refresh is really draining.
Also I find 2.0 very frustrating when it comes to hearting messages (which I find important). There is also no obvious mute/report button which is confusing for new members.
There's definitely very frustrating and obvious issues with this website the past few days. It's very glitchy. In addition to all the issues everyone else has mentioned here, there's also an issue with accepting personal requests. If you want to x out a request, it will not allow you to do so. It just won't budge. No matter how many times you hit decline, it won't move and won't x out. That is really bad as it leaves it open for the listener page thinking we keep having a personal request when we are trying to reject it but also the other person just waiting for us when we are not available. It's not smooth at all. I felt like this website completely went glitchy and all the functions do not work. And everything is jumbled up too like everyone else said. But thought I would also add in the part where you can't x out personal requests or properly decline them. I hope these issues will be fixed. It was much better before all these glitches happened. I would like to also add, in addition to what I said earlier, that when we have already read a message, it says we have a new message. And it won't go away unless we click on that message a few times. It's been like that for years. I hope that is going to be able to be improved. I also used to like how it says new messages at the top and now it doesn't say it anymore and a lot of times I miss it because I don't know I have new messages. It makes it harder. I can understand if you want to redesign it but please do make it more user friendly instead of the opposite. Thanks
@ShareAndVoice The problems you listed are typical of what I've seen too many times, a ubiquitous trend: "updating" websites/software for the sake of change itself. Ever since the Internet revolution, everyone has forgotten a piece of ancient wisdom, namely, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
What is the point of changing a platform when it works well enough already? If it gets to the point where it does not work that well anymore then yes, getting into the code & trying new things is warranted. But with today's technological climate, no one wants to wait. No, we gotta add new features right now....even when doing so compromises basic functionality. I believe one reason for this is to keep programmers & IT people employed. Imagine what would happen if needless innovation was slowed down...they'd have to do something useful for a change.
