My April seemed to have gone by so quickly and yet days at work went by slowly. One more week of work and I'll have 2 weeks off to focus on the preparation of launching my business. I actually had planned to do get some things done this weekend, but I have been using it to catch some sleep and haven't been as productive as I had wished.

I have been chasing a dream job, but it's taking a long time to achieve it because I first need to be financially stable. That is also why I'm really pushing forward with the launching and success for my business. Really hoping that I could earn a decent amount of income in 3 years' time, and that I could be that much closer to that dream job. I just hope that by then, it's not too late or too old for the job!

This weekend was a sad weekend though. Long story short, I used to attend church with my parents in a different city, about 10 years ago. There, we knew a lady who is a single mother, in her 70s now, her sons and grandchildren are all grown up. She hadn't been doing too well the past few months, in and out of the hospital. My parents went to visit her yesterday (Saturday), when my parents came home. My mum said she left an hour after their visit, she was already in a coma when they saw her.. She didn't have a good life, as her personality is not liked by her children, I heard that even when she was in the hospital, her kids didn't visit very often. Her sister came from Hong Kong to take care of her instead.

I'm looking forward to May and June, as I will have more time to prepare for launching. I will have to launch it in June though, as I will be working from July to end of September, with only 8 days off in between (3 days in Aug, and 5 days in September).

I have a "sister" coming to visit from Hong Kong in June. Hopefully she comes when I'm not working so we can meet up again! Her husband is coming too, his first time visiting here. I heard her parents and brother will also be coming, and her other brother in the States may come too, so her entire family can have a reunion.

@Jaeteuk

hey jae! thanks for joining in on our check-in! Its lovely to see you as always,

I totally agree with you about how fast April has gone by but some of the days have just draggged by. Thats really exciting that you will be having two weeks to just focus on your buiness. I really admire you work to chase your dream of having a buisness. Good things take a lot of time. you can rush it as they wont happen overnight. There will be a lot of setbacks but in the end i hope it is all worth it for you <3

Im sorry to hear about your parents friend. That is really sad. Being in and out of the hospital is never a fun exseriance and then to not have your kids around you when needed. it is unfortunate and sad situation.

I hope that you have an amazing time with your sister, Its always nice to have something to look forward too. Its sounds like it might be fun to see everyone and have your family come toghter. How you feel about it?

Thank you. I have seen many who succeeded in this business, so I'm really looking forward to the launch and be serious with it. Really need to be financially stable, and at my age, it's not normal to still not have a full-time position for work. So, I'm depending on this business to achieve an income equal to or earn more than a current full-time position if I had one. I know this is an ambitious goal, but this could be a life-changing career when I'm more financially stable. I can also think about continuing on pursuing my dream job of working overseas.

She is not my sister by blood, but I do call her my big sister. She is the older sister of my brother's university friend. But we've kept in touch even after she moved back to Hong Kong. In Chinese, I call her big sister. She is like an older sister to me. Before COVID, we exchanged handwritten letters in the mail, but since COVID we haven't written to each other as much. But we do keep in touch through chat. She came last year too, and with her, we visited my brother's other friend. She was only in town for like 5 days though, as her main trip with her mum was to visit her nephews in the States. Hopefully this time, she'll be visiting longer.

@FaithfulZareia

I've been unwell but I am feeling better now!

One thing I've always wanted to do was host a small formal dinner. Maybe with a few close friends, and have really elegant silverware, fine China plates and a pretty table cloth. It would be nice to set it all up and then share the experience with others.

Haha the last song I listened to was a silly song called "Baby Snake" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOP15Ep4gPU

How was your April been? How are you feeling right now?

I have been trying to start a support group at my school with no luck. Feeling down about it and not sure what to do next. The student dean said he would start it, but had no luck finding anyone else interested, and I feel like he was a bit rude to may because of being frustrated I followed up to check the status of it.

I am thinking of maybe messaging our class president about it privately. Also I have a study group and might want to tell them but I am afraid to dump too much of my problems on them and to be judged for being someone with a lot of baggage/issues.

What is one thing that you have always wanted to try? A dream that you have been chasing?

I would like to take more dance classes but don't have time right now.

What is the last song that you heard and enjoyed?

Every summertime by Niki

@Daydreamer47

Hey day! Thanks so much for joining our check-in this week <3 lovely to see you as always.

That sounds like an awesome group that you are trying to start. What kind of support is it for? School? Mental health? Something else? School is not easy for people to go through and its nice to be surrounded by people going through simular things. I can totally understand your frustrations of that its not going exactly how you envisioned it. It can be hard when someone else trys to take over and and there is not the intrest. Don't give up on your idea. You have the best intentions to be giving students a safe place and sometimes things need time/ effort to work through things before they become an awesome thing.

I can totally understand being nervous about sharing things with your study group. you never want to be judged for anything you say. i hope things go well with them <3

Dance is super cool! Have you taken classes in the past? Its definily hard that there are only so many hours in the day!

Have a great week Day <3

@FaithfulZareia I mean no one responded so it's over right now. It was a peer support group. I really needed support for myself because my family is abusive and I have no support so I was trying to start a group but I guess everyone else has family and friends and doesn't need support. I have reached a dead end and don't know what to do and I'm really depressed.

Most Universities and Colleges already have existing peer support groups. Are you able to inquire about them and find support there?

I know it must be difficult to find peer support in school, most people who are suffering from family issues do not tend to step up to initiate in finding support for themselves. Feeling that they will become a burden to others who are not having problems. I encourage you to keep looking out for chances to create a support group, even if it's just with a few other students. You need to do this for yourself, this is another form of self-care. Are there counsellors that can help give you guidance?

@Jaeteuk Thank you for responding. This is a veterinary school and we definitely do not have any support groups. There are only two school counselors and they said they were too busy with appointments to run a group. (I see a different counselor separately because the school only gives you a few appointments). Whether the undergraduate school has one, I'm not sure but it is a different campus. Yeah I am going to look into maybe contacting one of the student class presidents privately. We only have a few weeks of school left though.

I see. If this is not your final year, maybe you can consider connecting with a few students with the class president's help to create a support group. Vet school can be so stressful, there will definitely be students who will want to have peers as support too. Hope you'll be feeling okay for the remaining weeks.
