My friend seems to be getting farther from me
It seems that she doesn't really like to reply to me. When I say something to her, although she responds, I can see that in fact, she isn't interested in it. It is because she stops talking when I continue. She doesn't refuse to interact with me, however so passively like an intelligent robot used specially for answering questions. Classmates as we are, we seldom meet face to face, owing to some of the arrangements of our school, so we keep in touch with each other online. With the coming of holidays or festivals, it's always I that send words of blessings first. When she initiatively talks to me, it's almost always for her study problems. Actually, she can ask the teaching assistant instead of bothering me, but I answer her questions patiently and carefully every time. I sometimes convey my care about her and I try to maintain our friendship. She shows her care in return, and not until now do I realize she doesn't really care. Few of her courses will be given by the same teachers as mine this semester, so it's very unlikely that she will still choose to ask me questions about studies. Then what will we talk? She is getting farther from me. I have never disclosed any of such feelings to her, for I don't know whether the response will make me even more upset.
Buddy i m in same situation.
Anyone plz help us......
Hey there Frost! It's lovely to meet you!
I'm sorry to hear that your relationship with your friend isn't the same as it once was. I can understand how important this friendship is to you. Watching someone start to grow distant and loose investment in your friendship can be pretty upsetting and scary. I know you must want to do anything in your power to rebuild the friendship back. I will hope that this is able to happen for you. Sometimes friends grow apart but untimely find their way back together. It can be tricky to know what to do. There is no rulebook that you are able to follow. I mean that would make things a lot easier right :p
In my experience friendships are difficult and complex things. Sometimes magical and sometimes frustrating. Often they challenge us, either with the necessity to be more open or to let go of something. They can be confusing and fill us with more than one emotion at a time. It can be tough to discern and navigate, and that's okay. We are in it together.
It sounds like you are giving your all to this relationship. It is good to remember that relationships are two ways. You both got to give and take. When you do homework or send messages during the holidays, it sounds like you are the one who too often gives. With them not responding in the same, it can feel like the relationship is one-sided. I can sense that you wish that they would be the ones to text first or reach out to talk about something besides school. You want to know she cares for you like you do. You might wish that she showed more care and interest rather than her unemotional robotic responses. With the upcoming semester I can see why you would be worried. Your study help is the one thread keeping you two connected. Without that thread things might grow even further apart.
It is important to remember that no matter how long a friendship lasts, you can always cherish the memories that you have. Letting people go in life is difficult - no matter the reason. The most important thing to remember is to try your best to carry on and grow. When it's time to move on from anyone, I remember this quote: "People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime." Undoubtedly, this person was excellent and lovely person in your life; however, maybe they are not made to be in it forever, which is okay. School can be a great place to meet new people and friends. Perhaps, there is room to expand your friendship circle with new people who love and care for you and are excited to be friends with you. I know that you deserve to be surrounded by friends and people like that.
This is also a reminder to take care of yourself. Sometimes we get rapped up in trying so hard to make a friendship work that we forget about out selfs. What are your hobbies? what do you enjoy doing? Many you can take a couple minutes to do something special for yourself.
As you can see, many people are also going through what you are. Some friendships fade, and some get the opportunities to grow stronger than they were before. Whatever the outcome is, we are here for you. You are not alone. *shares some cookies and kiwis* I would love to hear your thoughts and get updates <3
Out of curiosity, how long have the two of you been friends for? Do you know if she acts the same way with other people? I know exactly how you feel about this friendship. I was in the same type of friendship with a girl I once called my best friend, after 20 years, I called off our "friendship". Over those 20 years, I spoke to her with my thoughts at different stages of our lives, and she didn't care to make any changes. That is why I made the final decision that I've had enough, and she didn't do anything in regards to wanting to stay connected.
I think you should talk to her about how you feel. Then, give yourself some time to see if she will change. If she continues to not initiate in contacting you, then decide what you'll do next. School is a great place to meet friends, from experience and what I've observed with those around me, not all friendships met in school are carried on after the times in school. For friendships that last even after both parties are working in different professional jobs, or have family of their own; those types of friendships lasted because they continued to have common interests/goals in their lives. We meet different people during all stages of life, some will stay with us longer, while others may drift apart.
Do what you can to try and maintain this friendship if you feel that she is someone you would like to stay friends with. If after putting effort into it, and she still doesn't respond, maybe she's not the type of friend for you. You deserve a friendship that treasures you and enjoys your presence.
