Drug addiction
beneath every behavior there is a feeling, and beneath each feeling is a need and when we meet that need rather than focus on the behavior, we begin to deal with the cause, not the symptom
@compassionateCar7091
This is deep and well said
Thankyou xx
Hope you are traveling well and keeping strong
Im not sure i agree if im understanding you correctly, if the behavior is getting high, the feeling is usually contentment, then guilt, etc. The need is contentment . If you feel contentment after or while getting high, how is the cause being dealt with and not the symptom. I realy wanna understand
If I understand correctly it means you need to deal with your void, ie contentment and provide it to yourself so you don’t depend on the supplement to provide it.
We have the power to change so that should be the focus. Focus on positivity and be the person you want to be.
This is the one ! 💖
@compassionateCar7091 That’s really well said. It captures something many people don’t realize for a long time.
Addiction often isn’t the problem itself, it’s the solution someone found for an unmet need. When we only focus on stopping the behavior, we miss the pain, fear, loneliness, or overwhelm underneath it. Meeting the need is where real change starts.
Your words show a lot of compassion and insight. That perspective helps reduce shame and opens the door to healing, both for ourselves and for others.
