Being at ease with yourself

Not feeling comfortable in one's own self means not accepting who you truly are. It's very important that we are surrounded by positive people whether in real life or online to have a better life satisfaction, a healthier well-being, and higher levels of motivation.
Here are some points to reflect on:
Identify whether you're more of an introvert or extrovert.
If you’re an introvert and frequently go to events just to please others it can feel difficult to feel at peace inside. Vice versa it can be hard to stay most of the time at home if you are an extrovert because you might recharge your batteries by being around others.
Reflect on your expectations
Having expectations towards yourself can be a good thing and help you with discipline and goal settings. However, too high expectations, whether towards yourself or others, can lead to frustration and disappointment.
Reflect on your boundaries
Boundaries are a way to take care of ourselves. Setting and maintaining healthy boundaries helps to prevent feelings of resentment, disappointment, and anger that build up when limits have been pushed.
Exercise to ease into being alone with yourself
Set a time for 5 minutes where you will not be interrupted
Close your eyes
Take some deep breaths slowly in and out - breathe at a pace that makes you feel comfortable
Do this every day for at least 2 weeks and observe how you feel differently than when you started on the first day
Sitting with our thoughts and feelings can be tough. It can feel unnatural but it also helps us better understand ourselves and what we need. With practice we can ease into being alone with ourselves and feeling comfortable about it.

- How easy or how difficult is it for you to be alone with yourself? When I practice mindfulness being alone is not that difficult.
- What makes you feel good about yourself? When I have a daily routine that helps me stay healthyl.

- How easy or how difficult is it for you to be alone with yourself?
Generally for me, it is rather a question of prefering the quiet. I have been missing companionship though (I am a widow) and this is why I have adopted a dog recently. I do not mind being on my own, though. I am lucky I have a choice.
- What makes you feel good about yourself?
I am amazed that I am this old and still in great shape and able to be of service, learning new stuff along the way.
@Fradiga
To me being on your own by choice makes a difference to being compelled into it. I prefer the quiet too but from time to time I need to connect with others. A dog can be a wonderful companion!
Nice to hear that you feel fit mentally and physically!

Good comment!
Yes, well, there were time I was compelled to solitude and did not have a choice. Joining a community is a way to alleviate it and in my case, I found parishes filled that need. But it could be any sort of club too.
There are times when I have to be in company, but I am sensitive to noise. Yeah, I'll come to your party but I will leave early. Sure, I'll work with you, but please shut down that music.
@amiablePeace77 I really really hate being alone with myself. I think when I am with others, my brain doesn't have that free time to roam around in my thoughts. I like to socialize as a way of distraction. I think I feel good about myself when I see my hard work come to fruition. It hasn't been great recently, so my self-esteem is kinda in the toilet haha

I find that there are times in our lives when many things works out well and then again nothing works but it always changes so nothing stays forever. Something that helps me in times when things are harder is to remind myself of all the things I have completed in the last. Have you thought about writing them down?
@amiablePeace77 That may be a really good idea to help reflect on all the good that has graced me in the past and remember that good will come again. Thank you so much! ❤️
