Habit Forming - Meditation
We all know that our bodies and minds benefit from good habits. Good habits can be preventative actions that help protect us from diseases and also to cope with challenges and stay mentally well.
Some researchers say that it takes at least 66 days for habits of “automaticity” to kick in. I believe it’s worth the time to stick to these 66 days and improve life quality.
Meditation is one of the best ways to strengthen and calm the nervous system which can lead to improved immunity, greater resilience, and an increased sense of well-being. Though some people find it hard to get into the habit of meditation. Here are some things one can do to increase the chances that you will stick with it.
Try to set up a routine done at the “same time and same place” regularly.
Don’t try to do 1 hour meditation in the beginning but start small with manageable chunks of time such as 3, 5, or 10 minutes, and build from there.
Choose a comfortable position. Sitting on a chair is often more comfortable for many people than sitting on a meditation cushion.
In the beginning it can feel easier to use guided meditations
Choose a reward after you have finished your meditation, like maybe another 5 to 10 minutes listening to music which gives you comfort. Rewards can be motivating.

If you have the possibility to join a meditation group, online or in real life, take advantage of that.
Are you currently practising meditation and what kinds of benefits do you experience?
If you are not meditating at the moment would you give it a try?
The most common reason that people stop the practice of meditation is because they can’t see results fast enough, they might feel they can’t focus. With every meditation, healing is taking place even when you do not necessarily feel it right away.
Meditations have tremendous benefits for stress management and overall health

I find that having a time when I can be quiet and connect with my body and breath really helps me start out my day on the right foot. If I am not trying to do that sitting or lying down, I may incorporate the practice into Adrienne yoga or 5 minute Tai Chi, both on www.youtube.com
@soulsings
Good idea to incorporate the practise into yoga or tai chi especially if you feel like falling back to sleep when laying or sitting down for meditation after waking up.
@amiablePeace77 yes it is better for me to stretch and start to wake up and set an intention for the day than to just roll over and go to sleep.
