Seeking Help
Mental stress can cause us not to be able to see the good things in life and lead to excessive rumination or worries which can result in serious health problems. If you have serious, long-term problems with negative thinking and feeling depressed, see your doctor or talk to a therapist if they are related to any mental challenges.

@amiablePeace77 What is something you like about your body?
When it is working properly.
@soulsings Definitely agree!
@amiablePeace77 something I like about my body, well I'm ok looking from the neck up. Otherwise yeah I struggle but for good reason, half my body is missing😞and scare everywhere. Sometime s I just wish I was normal, a regular girl, like other people my age
@Tinywhisper11
You might not have all your body but you have something that is very exceptional and that's your big heart. 💙 I do understand though, hugs.
@amiablePeace77 thankyou ❤❤ gives you a giant tiny hug back ❤❤
Are you critically analyzing parts of your body that you are unhappy with?
Definitely. Half my body is badly scarred due to an old accident, and a constant reminder of times I wish I could forget. And I won't even get into my brain.
What kinds of things do you find yourself thinking like: "I wish my body looked different"?
I cover my body all the time, hoping I didn't have to. That I could let go of the past and everything, that it wasn't the only thing that existed to me.
What is something you like about your body?
Honestly, nothing really.
@OneErased
It is hard when we are reminded of something we don't want to think about anymore every time we look at us or see us in the mirror. I like that you remind yourself of the fact that you're not only your body! Hopefully one day you can see the scars with gratitude that you came out of that accident alive! That's how I feel every time I look at a very long scar on my body.
@OneErased when I see you in one of the rooms what I am aware of is a kind compassionate person that really cares about other people.
The benefit of virtual friends is that we don't get put off by how the body looks. It is a heart to heart talk that we see. That makes a big difference to people.
I hope you can accept my impressions of you because I try to see the best part of every person. Keep being who you are. Feelings of sadness do not last forever amd may be healed by sharing.
I know the discussions we have might be late for you, but you are always welcome. We need people like you in discussions. Anyone 18+ older is welcome to these. We have topics and try to support everyone. https://www.7cups.com/forum/50plus/QAsDiscussionsResources_1770/50plusDiscussionsandTopicsDec2023toFeb2024_207920/

What is something you like about your body?
I am pretty sure the answers here would vary depending on gender and age.
As a female of 71 years, I am more confident with my older looks. In fact, I am more confident, period.
I am fit due to my lifestyle but of course, my face is unrecognizable from when I was much younger. Not just age, but a partial facial reconstruction was needed three years ago so it is a bit lopsided now, with 15 years's worth of sagging erased on one side, but not the other.
I have a few friends who prefer that we talk without video because we have not seen each other in such a long time that they fear they look too different now.
My sweet grandma REFUSED to have her picture taken when she was past 60. She obviously did not like her older looks.
I am simply thankful and amazed that I am still alive, considering what I went through medically, and that beats any self-consciousness.
@Fradiga we are glad you are alive. You give so much to this community. What is on your face does not matter. What is in your heart really makes a difference. Keep being you!
