Optimism is one of nature’s best-kept secrets. Optimists are healthier, more productive, live longer, and are more successful in life, work, and relationships. But the best part of it—and probably the biggest secret of all—is that anyone can learn how to think and act like an optimist.

What kind of stories have you told about yourself, encouraging or critical, over the last few years?

What kind of affirmations or inner dialogues are you making about yourself, ones that affirm your positive qualities or underline your negative ones?

Seeking Help

Mental stress can cause us not to be able to see the good things in life and lead to excessive rumination or worries which can result in serious health problems. If you have serious, long-term problems with negative thinking and feeling depressed, see your doctor or talk to a therapist if they are related to any mental challenges.

What kind of stories have you told about yourself, encouraging or critical, over the last few years?  I tell myself that I am a 7 Cups Listener. Wait a minute, I am one! Many things I do I identify with my doing.

What kind of affirmations or inner dialogues are you making about yourself, ones that affirm your positive qualities or underline your negative ones?  "What I am doing is important. It can contribute to happiness. What I am being is essential. Without that happiness will not arrive.

I always tell myself that life is nothing different than the game sims. We are here to experience all kinds of feelings, good and bad ones, so it is important to not dwell too long for one kind.

@amiablePeace77 For several years now, I have narrated stories of my own capacity that at times boost my morale as I look back at what I have done, how far my impact has gone with others around me. Still, there were some instances when I could not resist being judgmental, more so in the face of difficulties or failures questioning if there were any areas in which I was weak or spoke off. As far as self-talks and affirmations go however, I try always to concentrate on my power points, successes as a way of reminding myself.

@MindfulJourney22

I believe reminding yourself of your power points and your successes is a good way to boost your self esteem especially in tough times!
