Sticking to a wellness routine

Improving our well-being is not just about finding the ultimate exercise or mindfulness technique, but rather about having a set of skills available. One of the most dependable methods to feel happier is to move your body. The benefits can be increased when exercise and mindfulness practice are combined, like, for example, in the case of mindful walking or mindful weight lifting.

Therapeutic support can help in many ways, from learning new coping skills to helping you  find new ways of thinking, which will change your behavior and likely the outcomes that happen in your life.

Here are some options to explore:

ACT: The goal of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is to act in accordance with personal beliefs while allowing space for challenging thoughts.

For long-term emotional well-being, this strategy is both effective and durable.

Mindfulness Compassion Practise: Even in the face of chaos, resilience is strengthened by learning to react to challenges with less self-criticism.

Positive Activities: An example is gratitude journaling which can be done anywhere and alone

Yoga/Tai Chi/Qigong: All of them combine physical and mental focus.

The key is to find a well-being routine that works for you, stick with it, and continue to show up.

Participation question:

Do you find it difficult to establish or stick to your wellness routine? What makes it difficult for you?

Seeking Help

Mental stress can cause us not to be able to see the good things in life and lead to excessive rumination or worries which can result in serious health problems. If you have serious, long-term problems with negative thinking and feeling depressed, see your doctor or talk to a therapist if they are related to any mental challenges.

In the  beginning I found it difficult to stick to my new wellness routine, as it involves getting up earlier in the morning but with time I got used to it and reap the benefits of finishing my work earlier in the morning so I can give myself more time for relaxation.

I've started to look at my wellness routine as mind and body, physically I'm fine, working on the mind part ð¤ª

Our minds are powerful "instruments", good thing to work on them! I hope coming here helps.

From our past discussions I'd imagine you are aware of the impact it has had. I've barely touched the surface too 😄

Yes, right now I have a mountain of school work and interviews.  I don't want to do the school work so I push everything away.

When we have so much on our plate it can feel overwhelming for sure! I always try to remember "One step at a time", it does not work in all cases but mostly it does.

Yes. I struggle to remain consistent. Procrastination mostly.

Consistency can be difficult to achieve. I find if I set my goals very low for the beginning it does help to stay consistent.

My wellness routine includes going to be at a good time regularly, every night, waking up early to wash my face and brush my teeth bare minimally and making breakfast for myself. That rhythm lately has been so helpful for my mental health because it helps with having boundaries and being more prepared for the day.

@sonnieeee

Getting up early gives more time and reduces stress, no need to rush!

Do you find it difficult to establish or stick to your wellness routine? What makes it difficult for you?

It wasn’t easy during the first few times I started it but as I kept going with it and practicing it became easier as I was getting more and more used to it and from there it wasn’t difficult anymore

I find it difficult to stick to a consistent routine. I always start off good and then work stuff gets in the way and takes my time up. Then I get too tired to do it. I do try and fit self care days at the end and middle of the week which helps,but I think I need to do it more reguarly really.

@Harmony8682

Fitting in self-care days at the end and middle of the week is already a step ahead! I hope, though, you can increase your self-care in the future. It can help to keep a routine flexible.
