Today, I would like to share with you some information I recently read which I found very interesting. Not all of it is new, but I feel that we often forget about these things which can be so helpful.

What I’m talking about is helping yourself by reducing rumination, improving focus (Adhd) and dealing with any emotional challenges.

There is some research work that suggests that training the working memory, especially the emotional working memory, has the clinical potential to reduce rumination and symptoms of anxiety.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2213158220303259

Many people living with ADHD tend to have difficulty with their working-memory capacity, and this deficit could be responsible for their tendency to be distracted and resulting problems at school, at work or in other areas of their lives. Apparently, the same might apply to people living with any emotional challenging mental disorder.

So, the question is what do we need to do to improve our working memory?

Below is a link for some fun games to try to improve the working memory but feel free to use your own games:

Another helpful game to improve the emotional working memory can be learning to understand emotions

What are your favourite brain games and in what ways did playing them help you?

How can the practise of mindfulness help?

The practice of mindfulness is another great way to improve life in general but specifically also the working memory capacity while reducing mind wandering. Mindfulness helps to calm the mind and strengthen focus which can be very helpful to keep us in the present moment and getting less triggered. Here are just 2 ways of many to practise:

Helping yourself is always a great option but sometimes it’s simply not enough and professional support is required.

If you feel that you need more guided support please reach out to your doctor or a therapist.

Training the working memory sounds interesting. Especially since you can do it by playing some fun games! I love jigsaw puzzles so that’s very cool to learn.

My favorite brain games are Mahjong and Chess. I’ve read that Mahjong helps improving short-term memory and logical thinking. I think chess improves concentration and memory as well but not too sure.

Lovely post as always! Thanks for sharing! :)💜

Rumination is an indication you arent happy with things. Don't get better at trying to ignore it, look into your feelings.....stop trying to control them. Understand what you are not happy with and take action. The way you feel.is important don't gaslight yourself
