Why do we need to sleep?
Some of you will probably have experienced the feeling of being cranky after a restless night. Lack of sleep has been shown to impair emotional regulation.
On the other hand, mental illnesses like worry and depression can interfere with sleep also. Mood and sleep are correlated in both directions. During sleep, our bodies undergo several crucial processes for recovery and healing like tissue repair, immune system support, hormonal regulation, cognitive recovery, memory support and emotional regulation.

Seeking Help
Mental stress can cause us not to be able to see the good things in life and lead to excessive rumination or worries which can result in serious health problems. If you have serious, long-term problems with negative thinking and feeling depressed, see your doctor or talk to a therapist if they are related to any mental challenges.

I rate my sleep recently at a two, I'm worried and overthinking at the minute and it's greatly affecting my mood 🥺💜
@Amanda84
It's hard to fall asleep when the mind is turning around. Do you feel there is something in particular that keeps you awake atm?
@amiablePeace77
The worry of my fathers health!
@amiablePeace77 we faced a long day or something else pain , bad days we sometimes get sick we need a peaceful mind a clear one
@dhabib
A mind which is at peace can tolerate much more challenges and pain. What usually helps you to feel at peace and at ease?
@amiablePeace77. Lavender candles soup and hot showers and peace having space away go my dad my dad gets moody and grouchy very hurtful I can not accept tolerate it’s not okay to be that way he shouldn’t be that way towards his daughter it’s disrespectful , happy sept2025 to you
@amiablePeace77 Do you have a bedtime routine? What does it look like?
@soulsings
Sounds great soul. Ruminating over problems usually makes them bigger. Glad meditation helps!

How would you rate your quality of sleep on a scale from 1 (worst) to 10 (best)?
3 - I have no issue falling asleep, It's the middle of the night usually any time after 3AM my mind gets wired and I can't stop it. get up go washroom, and just can not fall back asleep or it takes a good hour or more of toss and turn.
My doctor is at a loss as to what I can do to help. Suggested I take Melatonin at 3 in the morning as long as I am not driving up to 5hrs after.
Do you have a bedtime routine? What does it look like?
No routine, just hit the sack around 10:30PM, no need to set an alarm. I am usually awake anytime after 4:30AM
@braindamag3
I hope the Melatonin helps. I wonder whether it might be a good idea to try it out in the weekend and not during the week for the first time. Have you had a look at your diet? Food high in carbs/sugar can lead to sugar dips and wake you up around that time.
@amiablePeace77
The Melatonin does not work for me 😔
Sometimes I will do 10mg THC sub-lingual & 50mg CBD gel cap. This at times helps me sleep better.
Diet wise, for the most part I fast after dinner, so typically from 6:30 on only water. I'm not big on sugary foods.
