Hi Online Therapy Community!
I am so glad you are here with us today! I thought we could all share some positive coping skills today.
What are you doing to stay positive and develop healthy coping skills? Sharing tips or things you are doing to improve your mood or outlook could help spread optimism and encouragement to others whilst also increasing savouring. Savouring is the psychological experience you have when you focus on a positive moment which prolongs those poisitive feelings and helps incease well-being! They can be very simple things such as listening to music, feeling the fresh air on your face or chatting to a friend.

Hey Lisa, it's so nice to see you again, and with a lovely topic to discuss.
I like what the picture says, relating it more closely with our mind and treating is a garden, I feel when we nurture it with positive and kind thoughts, the positivity grows, and now our mind is nurturing us and allowing us to feel happy/emotionally stable and content. I used this garden=mind theme in one of my posts Here (clickable) a while ago hehe.
I like taking walks, listening to music, watching something feel-good or well, sleeping lol. Always helps to snooze out the "I don't want to deal with it currently" thoughts and emotions. ❤
What are some of your favorite ways to self-soothe?

Hello again :)
What a lovely response! It is great to see you again too! I love your emphasis on the mind being a garden - 100%. What do you choose to grow in your garden? The picture represented to me the mindfulness we feel when tending to our garden and the peace within that it gives us and it is so nice to see it in another light as your perspective is very useful. I LOVE your post in the community and think it is very positive and healing. It helps us to think about what we actually need and how to get there. Wow!
Those are all lovely ways to nurture yourself and feel better about life in general as it is tough at times and we need to learn ways in which help us ride the waves too. Sleeping is very important especially when we are not feeling our best as it helps us to destress and reset ourselves.
Just like you, I enjoy walks with my dog and yoga. Walking has very much changed my life and helps me to feel more balanced. I especially like it on a sunny day just like today. 🌻
@LisaMeighanMScGMBPsS Aww this made my month, Lisaa. I appreciate you so much. ❤️ Walking with your dog sounds extra fun hehe and ooh yoga is always a good activity, i'm yet to try it more regularly/ consistently, hopefully some day. :D Hope you get more sunny days. ❤️

@LisaMeighanMScGMBPsS What are you doing to stay positive and develop healthy coping skills?
One thing I do is change from high carb diet to more protein, fruits and veggies
I try to do some exercise every day. If I go to the store, I park far away so I can walk further than when I park close.
I watch my thoughts and when they are getting into the red zone, I take a time out and prevent myself from getting angry. Anger just ruins my day if I let it take over.
@LisaMeighanMScGMBPsS. I listen to music and meditation videos. I do some breathing meditations. I keep a gratitude journal. I also like to say affirmations.

Thank you for this great post so we can share what helps us but also read what helps others and maybe try something new!
What are you doing to stay positive and develop healthy coping skills?
I start my day with a gratitude meditation, then I go into my garden which always relaxes me. It's calming for me to work with plants. Before lunch I exercise to keep me fit and healthy and then I do another longer meditation. If negative thoughts arise I usually do supportive self talk, acknowledge what's wrong but also assure myself that I will manage whatever challenge there will be. I find having supportive mantras very helpful. Volunteering here keeps me focused on the positive and is very rewarding. Nighttime I do a brief meditation again and I watch funny videos so I can laugh and have good thoughts before falling asleep.
Thank you all of you for sharing such fantastic ways in which you develop positive coping skills for your well-being. I love hearing how exercise is a big part of your day for some and being in nature too!
Can anyone share coping skills on how to develop positive thinking? I am struggling right now
@lovelyWings564
Sorry to hear that you're struggling rn with your thoughts. It can be very rough when the "Emotional attack dogs" are out. Something that helps me to get into a better mindset is to do gratitude meditations and also positive self talk along with a healthy carb low diet and regular exercise.
