How do you think the food we eat affects how we feel mentally?

What foods do you find make you feel more stable and not like on an emotional roller coaster?

Sugar affects me badly. Not so much my mood but my brain fog. I have inflammatory diseases and sugar feeds inflammation. So I TRY to not eat sugary foods.

There is comfort foods like chocolate or takeout that feels like a mini boost, like I'm taking a break from chaos and taking care of myself.

Then there is regular stuff like sandwiches and it's functional but at the same time, I'm nourishing my body and taking that time out to breathe and have a quiet moment.

Food is no longer the enemy, it's fun.

@soulsings

How do you think the food we eat affects how we feel mentally?

Sometimes I think it depends on what we’re eating but then other times I think it’s also if we’re eating anything at all opposed to not eating.

What foods do you find make you feel more stable and not like on an emotional roller coaster?

While it’s definitely important to be healthy which includes eating healthy meals, I also believe that here and there, you deserve to have a meal that you enjoy and makes you happy along with dessert afterwards if you want. But it needs to be balanced out.

@soulsings

I'll have a raspberry pavlova please - I love sweet and creamy desserts.

The ones made by the local pastry shop are amazing. Meringue bottom, whipped cream and seasonal fruits.

I enjoy duck with peas, a lot of lettuce, raw veggies (tomatoes, cucumbers), local blue cheese or a soft goat milk creamy spread on a traditional chewy baguette.

It might all sound indulging but I am actually a light-weight. I shed a lot upon my repatriation from America for some reason.

Somehow, the question that is asked here is strange to a European like me. Few of us have an eating disorder which makes one eat ice-cream or a sleeve of cookies on the regular. Comfort food? What is it? MacDonald? We do have one or two in the region, but it is a 45-minute car ride away and city hall refused to open one in our area due to the trash it would bring for one thing, and to protect our local burger joint.

@Fradiga pavlov is a new word for me. Sounds delicious. I have not been to McDonalds in a long time.

@soulsings

It is actually quite easy to make if you are used to making meringue

@Fradiga I have an electric mixer but I do not like cleaning it up. I guess I am moving away from baking. I have frying pans and I like to make blueberry banana pancakes sweetened with applesauce and substitute almond flour for half the flour.

Making sure I get the basics covered, fats carbs and protein with minerals and vitamins thru fruit and veg, or at least multivitamins and protein shake on hard days, makes me feel more grounded, centered, capable, and less anxious

I can think faster and feel much better with lighter food choices, rather than steaming or stir-frying. I use very limited sugar and only complex carbs. Eating healthy makes me feel more stable.

@soulsings Its not just food but what we drink dat can either help or hurt us. As I get older I have been forced to recognize the damage I did to my body from the foods and so much soda and candy did to my body then to suddenly go from over eating to not eating at all takes a toll as well. It has caused many health issues for me. One would not believe how many different illnesses I have but I try now to take in salads-which I need more of, I dont drink enough but I do my best to avoid soda and sugar I still have it occasionally but I opt more for later and sparkling flavored wuddah. When ya take in all the junk food yer body adapts to it and ya start getting tired easier and less energy

@eternalHero77 glad you are aware of challenges with poor food choices and are moving towards correcting that.

@soulsings It can be difficult tho. Most times its due to financial or availability to cook as doctor doctor stated I am not to cook or do baths unless someone is present due to the seizures. Many times stove has been left on and baths a person risks drowning so its advised to do showers. I just have some challenges dat without help just makes it hard.

@eternalHero77 I hear you that must create uncertainty and I see how your need for assistance is pervasive.

What about cooking in the microwave? What is your favorite food?

What about washing with a cloth in the sink?

@soulsings My favorite is stiffed peppers. I also like steak Baked potato then veggies.

for the sink and rag-it helps a bit but when I did it years ago for a few times I Don’t Know I still somehow felt not clean. It will help if ya have odor under yer arms but the rest of the body its not.
