I hear you are anxious...
Many times we meet someone that seems very nervous and fidgety and may even reach out to talk to us about what is on their mind.
- What advice would you give to someone suffering from anxiety?

I do have anxiety and the best thing I did was realize I actually have it. Recognize it and know that those feelings are terrible but you are safe. Mindfulness saves me every time during a panic attack and the anxiety that follows ….

- What advice would you give to someone suffering from anxiety? To be honest, I am not really sure. Perhaps I would try to get them to slow down their breathing by getting them to do some diagram breathing and get them to a place of calmness.

It depends on the severity. I would suggest learning mindfulness coping skills and dbt distress tolerance to help with the anxiety. If it is severe I would always suggest to get help from a professional like a therapist.
@amiablePeace77 I always ask if they feel safe if they appear to be in extreme distress.
@soulsings
That's a good question to ask to show that you care!
I had anxiety as a dx I used to no lie just suck down anxiety meds (I was on non addictive meds but my anxiety was so high I watched the clock til I could take the next dose) and I depended on them; nothing else calmed me down.
Eventually I replaced them with music and crocheting.
I am back on that med at a small dose; it is to help keep my blood pressure down!
I got rid of the medication exchanged it for behaviors which accomplished the same thing.
I was fortunate; I don't even see a psychiatrist today!!

I'm glad you found ways to manage your anxiety and were able to reduce your meds to a small dose. Thank you for sharing this! I find it always motivating to read how others find ways to deal with health issues apart from exclusively taking meds.
@amiablePeace77 sure and honestly I was taken completely off anxiety meds.
I was put back on this one to help lower blood pressure, not for anxiety!
