I’m struggling tonight and could use some support

Hi everyone… I’m having a really hard time right now.

I’ve been doing my best to heal after leaving a relationship that was abusive—physically and emotionally. I know deep down that leaving was the right choice, but tonight I feel overwhelmed with sadness, longing, and confusion. I miss him, and I hate that I do. I keep hearing his words in my head, saying he’ll always love me and that he’s sorry. Part of me wants to run back to him just to stop the ache… even though I know he hurt me.

I feel heartbroken, lonely, and like I just want this pain to stop. I cried a lot tonight and now I’m just lying here, trying to fall asleep, wishing I didn’t feel so heavy.

If anyone has some kind words, grounding tips, or anything really —I’d really appreciate it.

@Priscella

"I keep hearing his words in my head, saying he’ll always love me and that he’s sorry."

Not to invalidate your feelings, but was it really this guy, or your inner voice saying you deserve love, care and protection?

You seem to be a beautiful person, both from the inside and from the outside, and you surely deserve much better than "being treated like a doormat" 😕

There is love and tenderness living in you, and it works like a magnet: later - or sooner - it's going to attract someone who receives your signals and echoes it with his own ones.

The courage to close some chapters of your life is the promise of new chapters opening 💕

@Priscella

Hey, thank you for being brave enough to share something so raw and painful. Just reading your words, I can feel how heavy your heart is right now and I want you to know, truly, that you're not alone in this.

What you’re feeling this ache, the confusion, the longing it all makes sense. Leaving someone you loved, even if they hurt you, is one of the hardest things anyone can do. Our hearts don’t always follow logic. They remember the good moments, the hopes we held, the promises whispered in softer times. And when you're grieving, even pain can feel like connection. It’s okay to miss him. It doesn’t mean you made the wrong choice. It means you’re human, and your love was real, even if he didn’t treat it the way he should have.

Please don’t mistake this pain for a reason to go back. You didn’t leave because it didn’t hurt to stay you left because staying was slowly breaking you. That strength, even if it feels far away tonight, is still in you. You chose yourself. And that’s powerful.

For now, just breathe. If it helps, try placing your hand on your heart and reminding yourself:

“I am safe now. I am healing, even if it hurts. I deserve peace and love that doesn’t hurt me.”

Even if your mind pulls you into the past, come back to the now. The now is where your healing lives.

You're not brokenyou’re in the process of rebuilding. And that takes time, but it’s worth it. You're worth it.

Sending you so much love tonight. You’re going to get through this, even if right now, all you can do is breathe. That’s enough. You’re enough.

Hi Priscella, thank you so much for your vulnerability in sharing what you’re going through. I can hear the deep pain and complexity of what you're feeling tonight, and I want you to know that your emotions are valid. Missing someone who caused harm doesn't make you weak or confused — it shows that your capacity to love was real, even in the face of hurt.

It’s completely natural to feel torn in moments like this. Healing from abuse isn't linear, and the longing you feel is part of a process — one that takes time, compassion, and gentle reminders that your safety and peace matter most.

You made an incredibly brave choice in leaving. That strength is still within you, even when the grief feels overwhelming. Be patient with yourself as you navigate this. The ache you’re feeling doesn’t mean you're going backward — it means you’re feeling deeply, and that’s part of healing.

If it’s helpful, grounding yourself in the present can bring a little relief. Try noticing what’s around you: the feel of your sheets, the sound in the room, the rhythm of your breath. These small anchors can remind your body that you’re no longer in that painful space.

You’re not alone, and you don’t have to carry this by yourself. I'm here, and so is this community. Sending you warmth and quiet strength tonight.

@tingtingxin thank you so much for the kind words I really appreciate it. I will ground myself more when in those specific moments. I keep telling myself healing isn’t linear and it’s just hard sometimes but I’ll keep telling myself💛

It's always a good thing to meditate so that you can be emotionally independent. I'm working on this myself. It's a process but I know you can do it. I hope this helped.

You've taken the right choice. Nobody has the rights to abuse in any form. Though it might be painful, it is the right choice. Proud of you that you've taken such a painful but necessary step despite the circumstances.

@Priscella the need to be loved is very strong indeed. It makes us tolerate things that we know are not right and unhealthy for us. Love creates dependency. You can't pluck yourself out of loving someone in a second even if they have hurt you. We forgive. We go back to loving. We doubt our own reactions of anger - whether we had reacted too strongly to something that was pardonable. We think about patching up if the person can change to give us the respect we deserve and if we have a big heart to give them a second chance. All these things are very normal. Don't think that this hard time is unjustified - your emotions are valid. This does happen in relationship attachments.

In life we all learn to love better as we grow. You decide how you can do that for yourself - whether it is again through this relationship or a new one. Give yourself time to make a decision - you don't want to end up being more damaged by taking a wrong step. Best to nurture yourself being single so you don't move back to the relationship dynamics you left, because of vulnerability.

I totally understand and can relate. First, give yourself a hug- it can be grounding in itself to even touch over your heart, and keep your hand there, it can be a comfort. Or any consistent touch, placing your hand on your arm or shoulder. Next, you survived- one of the hardest things in human life- to be betrayed by one you love and think they are good for you. This is normal. It’s human psychology to want to connect, and go back to what’s familiar. But that’s the trauma bond talking. You can be free and stay free. What you did was no small feat. If you go back, it gets worse. So understand there will be highs and lows. That’s normal and part of the healing journey to heal your broken heart and to learn what true love is again, starts with being gentle to yourself and accepting yourself where you’re at. I’m here if you need a listening ear, message me anytime.

@Priscella I know what its like to feel like it would be easier to go back to the pain for those few moments of love. Deep down you and I know it isnt the right choice.

There are people out there who love you more than he did, Im sure. And the cups community is always here to give you a helping hand. He wasnt your life. He wasnt even a chapter in it. He was barely a page, and it is long past time you left him behind

Maybe you'll always miss him, but you'll stpp missing the life you had with him. Who knows? Maybe you already have

I applaud your strength and wish you the best 🫶
