Inner Child and Adult Self
"Inner child speaking to adult self" refers to the process of recognizing, acknowledging, and nurturing the younger parts of yourself—often the emotionally wounded or unmet parts—from your current adult perspective.
It’s like having a dialogue between the version of you who was once a child (the one who still holds unresolved emotions, unmet needs, or formative experiences) and the present-day you (who has more knowledge, resources, and emotional capacity to respond with care, compassion, and safety).
For Example:
Inner child: “I feel scared and alone. I don’t know what to do when people leave me.”
Adult self: “I hear you. You’re safe now. I’m here for you, and I won’t abandon you. You don’t have to figure it all out by yourself anymore.”
What would your adult self say to your inner child?

@AshleyNFlewellenLPC
Little me... I'm constantly afraid, and I don't understand the things that are happening
Big me... It's ok your gonna make it through this, oneday you will be safe and free and you will learn what it is to smile 💖
Inner child: I feel too powerless to do anything by myself but I must do something because the weight of it all hangs on me.
Adult self: you only have to do as much as you can. Your strength will grow gradually and you'll do more. You're answerable to no one about how much responsibility you're willing to shoulder.
Inner child: I will sin to make things work. I don't see a way out.
Adult self: you don't have to sin to make things work. You have to pray to God and trust God.
@AshleyNFlewellenLPC
Inner child: I don't matter, I'm invisible, no one would care if you weren't here.
Adult: nothing that was ever said to you was true and nothing they said broke you ♥️

What would your adult self say to your inner child?
I would tell my inner child to taake baby steps when doing things and to think out everything before saying or doing something
What would your adult self say to your inner child?
"You're giving your best, you're trying and that's okay, you don't need to be perfect! You can learn step by step, no need to rush"
What would your adult self say to your inner child?
You're on your own.
@AshleyNFlewellenLPC Wow, very interesting question. I would talk to my inner child the way I have talked to my children.
You are wonderful just the way you are. There’s no one else like you. You have a special place in the world. No matter what happens, you are loved by me, by God, and by all in the heavens. There’s nothing you could do, nothing that could happen to you, that would change who you are, your worth, or stop that love. Be true to yourself. Take care of yourself. Believe in yourself and keep being the beautiful person you are to others.
