Lost
When you first step into adulthood you feel like you should know everything by now but then you realise you know nothing at all ,where you should be ,what you should do ,and who you are.I've been having that feeling a lot lately at 19 i wonder what path should i take and whether the one i m in is right ,what should i do next and whether i m truly happy.What do you guys think do you know what you are doing with your life? to those who are now fully adults in their 20s or 30s or older do you know what you are doing? and most importantly did you find happiness ?
@wisteria28
Adulthood can feel challenging, especially in the beginning. Many things change; there will be more responsibilities but also more freedom. I found it helpful to focus on my values and what fulfills me in life. I don't chase any happiness but try to find contentment and peace in life situations. It's something I grew into with time. Don't rush yourself and appreciate what is there for you, the rest will come on its own.
@wisteria28 everyone's path is different. someone may think they know everything at age 19, when really the future is very uncertain. this can seem very scary, but it can be a beautiful thing! uncertainty can mean that there are great things in store for you in your future! you do not have to have everything figured out right now. make sure that you are engaging in hobbies that you enjoy, like drawing, or riding bike, or practicing dancing. once you begin to do hobbies that you like and spending quality time by yourself, you will start to get to know yourself and what you want your future to look like! just make sure that you are not always worrying about the future, because that is how precious time passes us by. ❤️
@wisteria28 mid 20s here. Don't worry, we are all just faking it. In reality, we are all just some kids in a trenchcoat 😁
This is one of my life goals lol i want to stay a kid for as long as i can inside i don't want to lose the precious parts of young me so you are lucky 😁
This. This is the mic drop of truth right here hehe
@jesusredeemedme2425 😁😁😁
Reaching adulthood can be a scary time (certainly was for me), but most of us find our way. Stay connected to friends and family, focus on improving your skills, developing good habits and staying healthy. And "good luck" will eventually come to you.
I hope i find mine too it is scary there is a certain thing i m afraid of which is why the future scares me however i will just have to cherish the now thank you i ll do my best 😊
@wisteria28
Everyone has something that they're afraid of, so that's normal. That being said, do you want to share ?
Well i m honestly scared I won't be able to live my life the way I want it, without a certain amount of freedom I ll obviously will have to follow society's expectation marry by the time i m in my mid twenties it's like if i don't manage to achieve what i want and go abroad i fear the kind of future where i m married to someone the kind of unhappy marriage where i ll be stuck with a man because of the children the kind of life without love with nothing but mundane daily routine it's a bit complicated but many societies tend to pressure you to mold into their expectations and many times resisting become tiring i guess i m afraid of that especiallywhen i see the lives of other women no matter how successful it's always the same pattern you work marry cook raise it's exhausting and unfair in my opinion but no woman in my society share my opinion(my parents are quite open and allows me to do anything i want because they trust me however even they can't change the society and expectations of family friends and many others i always despised my society i never felt like i fitted in to be stuck here forever feels like a nightmare)
@wisteria28
it's great that your parents are supportive of you. Don't worry about societies expectations; follow what you want to do. You may find in the future that you want to marry and have kids too. But if not, then that's also fine
Thank you i do want to I just look at most of the women in my society and the expectations a woman have to do it just feels like an unfair amount of shore working cooking cleaning .. the marriage i dream of is different from that i want one where we help each other to grow and become better people together one where i won't be expected to do everything on my own i guess i was scared i will have to walk on their footsteps but i have a feeling i won't ❤️❤️
@wisteria28
Remains to be seen. The key is to have those things in mind when you are dating or meeting a potential partner. If you have a long enough courtship period, you should be able to determine whether a marriage with that person would be what you want or not.
@wisteria28
22. No, I don't know, just a rough idea. I don't have full control over my life, but that's okay as long as I do my best in the things I do have control over. I will not beat myself up over it. There are a lot more people than you think who are clueless and don't know where to go, even in their 30s.
To solely pursue happiness is not something literally taken by most of us I think - it's usually a byproduct of helping others and ourselves to become better individuals every day of our lives. I'd call it the pursue of giving - yeah. Thinking of the now is the best thing you can do, and sometimes, it's okay to sit with yourself and give time for yourself to figure things out. Routine is there in case you need something to do in the meantime, which is why it's important to have good habits to fall back to. Good luck out there!
Adulthood is the double edged sword stage 🙂
Find a hobby worth your time. Even when it feels like a chore deep down it's the thing that brings you simple joy. After several years you'll at least have that to reflect on. Until then, just like you acknowledged, no one knows what the future holds. But looking back and seeing at least one accomplishment makes it worth it. Building up a hobby can make up for all the other triumphs you'll experience. Start small and watch it grow.
