  • The moment I realized I wanted to marry my  female best friend at 5 years old.......
  • I felt happy.
  • My biggest struggle was about that family, society scolded me & told me it was not natural.
  • Suddenly I remembered what I learned in life - I needed to stay quiet, or sneak around, hide who I was, lest I be alienated, lose my job, arrested due to societal laws.
  •  It was hard in the beginning - It still is, as society is slow/resistive to acceptance beyond their beliefs and culture - or 'acceptance' under their 'comfort' levels
  • but then it got  a little easier when I felt recognized for who I am (some governments/societies), support systems.
  •   When I finished my body and mind felt - exhausted.

The moment I realized I needed to practice yoga,

I felt like light was at last cast in the maze of my mind.

My biggest struggle was about being consistent in that practice.

Suddenly I remembered what I learned in that one class held at the seaside in sunny Senegal. It was hard in the beginning

but then it got to the final relaxation pose. When I finished my body and mind felt in harmony.

(please do not mistake me for a health nut. My mat's been untouched in the closet for months now. They say the first step is realization, so fingers crossed I'll start taking it out daily again soon 🌼)

@SamOur I was surprised by the ending.

I do not use a yoga mat I do yoga floor exercises in bed before I get up in the morning and it helps to stretch out the body.

  • The moment I realized that it was okay to be highly sensitive
  • I felt relieved.
  • My biggest struggle was about managing my emotions.
  • Suddenly I remembered what I learned from Elaine Aron (author of the Highly Sensitive Person). It was hard in the beginning
  • but then it got easier to embrace myself and do breathing exercises when feeling overwhelmed. When I finished my body and mind felt at ease.

@amiablePeace77 nice to know you are an HSP.

What are the signs of that?

@soulsings

Here are some signs of hsp:

  • easily overwhelmed by such things as bright lights, strong smells, coarse fabrics, or sirens nearby?
  • getting rattled when you have a lot to do in a short amount of time?
  • avoiding violent movies and TV shows?
  • Withdraw during busy days, into bed or a darkened room or some other place where you can have privacy and relief from the situation?
  • High priority to arrange your life to avoid upsetting or overwhelming situations?
  • Notice or enjoy delicate or fine scents, tastes, sounds, or works of art?
  • Having a rich and complex inner life?
  • When you were a child, did your parents or teachers see you as sensitive or shy?

@amiablePeace77 thanks ami. I answer yes to many of those but not in an extreme so I am not sure where on the HSP spectrum I am. My life is not disrupting my life.

@miraculousTouch2949 I too am a former gamer that spent countless hours in front of a computer screen. Now I have more time to do what needs to be done.

  • The moment I realized I was good enough a musician to be professional
  • I felt pretty good and even surprised.
  • My biggest struggle was about learning as many pieces as I could.
  • Suddenly I remembered what I learned in from recordings, school and places I'd been to. It was hard in the beginning - It was a lot of practice, but not that hard
  • but then it got to be a good success, particularly when I went to stay in Japan - I was well paid by then. When I finished my body and mind felt all right.
