WHICH "meaning of life" when you are planning to send soldiers to war? when you choose to get to your target with a generous collateral damage? or a "why are we here?"
I do not know how much longer I will be alive. Past 70, one goes "who knows?" a lot more often and becomes more and more thankful for every new day and more and more resigned to what will come.
I have no answer to this third definition. I accept that life is transient and not sure one's mind is also transient. This was covered by most religions which talked of "souls", hence your identity, your experience, your character, all being separate from one's body. I find that it is really human exceptionalism who wants to answer this, but the fact is we are like ants and our aim in life is no better than the first bacteria: find food and make babies.
This was the uplifting comments I had to make. I hope someone can be funnier, whether they want to or not.

After 40 years of searching I gave up on finding any meaning. What seems to be true is there is not a one size fits all. Everyone I know who has meaning in their life has a different meaning.
@Gettingbettertoday
So true getting, we're all individuals and see the world and our lives through different glasses. What is important to you if I may ask?
@amiablePeace77
My wife and my dog.
@Gettingbettertoday
I hope you all can share lots of cuddles and fun time 😀
@amiablePeace77
The problem is when I hug my wife all I feel is heat and pressure.
To me, the meaning of life is to serve the Lord and spread the Word to those around, as well as the next generation. We all live for X amount of years and will one day die. But what matters most is what is left behind to impact the future. We live to shine light in this dark world through interactions with others, our actions and our speech.
@amiablePeace77 yep! I already know what the meaning of life is😁 it's simple, the meaning of life is happiness ❤ so if your doing something that doesn't make you happy, then don't do it, life's too short😎❤
@Tinywhisper11
There is a lot of wisdom in your words!
@amiablePeace77 yep! I'm wise beyond my ears 👂😁😁😁
@Tinywhisper11
Carefully checks behind tiny's ears and *nods* 😀
@amiablePeace77 😂😂😂😂
@Tinywhisper11 Amen, it that, my friend. We must make the most of our time in this world of ours. We should not waste it, by doing things, like arguing, fighting, being unsupportive of others,etc. Instead, we should rise above that, and be supportive, kind, loving, and helping those who need help. If more people did that, we would all be a bit better off for it. When we argue, fight and be unsupportive of each other, we waste a lot of energy and time. Energy and time, that could be spent, in more useful ways. The world would be better off, if more people were like that. But, sadly the world is filled with people, who like to argue every chance they get, be unsupportive of each other, and pick fights with everyone. Kindness goes a long, long, long way.
@calmMango9611 don't worry there are more good than bad people in this world ❤❤ and I'm the end good always wins ❤❤
@Tinywhisper11 That is so true, my friend.
Meaning is largely individually created. Perhaps my depression could be described as the feeling of losing the ability to create meaning for myself, because the anhedonia removes that feeling that something is meaningful from nearly everything.
Meaning making alone is difficult. Community can guide but it is ultimately the person who feels it or doesn't. We build our identities with who we get along with so there's influence there. It's important to be mindful of what truly matters to us, which values we want to uphold most. When trauma affects memory, this can become difficult to remember, at least to put it into some concrete form. We might be guided by default by our values without realizing.
@Zeraphim
It must be hard when you try to find meaning and feel happy but anhedonia and depression make it so hard. I hope coming here helps you.
@Zeraphim Thanks for opening up. I know, that opening up, is sometimes hard to do. You did an amazing job, my friend. So very proud of you. I truly am.

We all have ups and downs in our lives. It might be not fair to say so, because some people have high ups while some people have low downs. But I think they are just events that we can generate feelings from, which makes the point of living being experiencing instead of holding a purpose.
@miraculousTouch2949
I want my money back. This is not the experience I came for.
I think the energy that created and sustains this world is Love. For me, God is Love. Love vibrates through everything on this planet. I think our purpose is to receive love and give it back out. We often get hurt by other people and circumstances, but we can still get love through animals, plants, and ourselves. We can still give it out to others who may need it without us knowing. We can give it back to the Earth by caring for it and interacting with things on it. We should not receive love (from whatever source) and hoard it to ourselves, stopping the flow back out. We should also not block ourselves off from being open to love due to past hurt. (I’m counseling myself on these things as I write this.) It is impossible to know how far the ripple effect of each small action goes.
My meaning is doing something that aligns my values. It's in the simple life, random acts of kindness and making a difference. It can be found in unconditional help. I am trying to find meaning in suffering, it's a different wisdom that reveals admist journey or at destination😌
