Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 annually. The day was created to help bring awareness and support for environmental protection around the world.

  • What things do you do to help to protect the world we live in?

@soulsings Not littering! So simple to do and if everyone collectively does it, it makes huge difference. I always hate to see people litter and not have any care about our planet.

I have a routine which includes things like repurposing items, recycling, collecting rainwater for my plants and toilets, being careful with things I have to use (sprays and liquids that are environmentally friendly), not throwing garbage on the street or anywhere else but in a bin. Those are just a few things from my routine list.

Save a tree 🌳 eat a beaver

Save water 🚿 shower together

We must protect the world at all costs, it's the only planet with icecream💖💖

I try to speak up for Indigenous Peoples, land and water protectors, and landback efforts around the world. They are the best stewards of each respective region of our shared planet and settler colonialism has disrupted their relationships to their ancestral lands, destroying their ways of life, their health, and the well-being of everyone in the process. When they get to live on their land in their own ways, they can bring back life, health, and balance to that region. Imagine what could be possible if they were all able to steward the land and water around the world.

I also try to spread awareness about how we have already reached the "irreversible tipping points" deadline of 2025, after which we are supposed to begin cutting emissions drastically over the next few decades in order to have a planet habitable for humans and all other life on the planet currently going through a massive extinction event.

I try to help people understand that since 1988, a mere 100 transnational corporations have been responsible for 71 percent of the entire world's industrial greenhouse gas emissions. And these corporations have captured politicians in governments through lobbying and allowed for deregulation and massive profits at the expense of everyone, to the detriment of all life on the planet. We can and must do something to meaningfully address this.

I'm a big time social advocate. I've volunteered with various communities and platforms including 7 Cups, women empowerment groups, teaching the disabled, etc. I've received backlash for devoting my time and energy for free but I genuinely find joy in bringing smiles on peoples' faces and helping them get better, one day at a time. I find it in my essence and I feel I owe to the earth that has given me this beautiful life to make it a more liveable habitat.

I'm also a gardening enthusiast and I've sworn to plant a sapling every year. I've already grown a few green babies in my nursery and I can't wait to see them bloom.

@trueconfidant123 giving freely is very rewarding. There are 50 million caregivers in the US many more world wide. We are all in this together.

I grow and plant trees. I harvest pine cones and get seeds from them.  I have about 10 pine trees ready to plant now. I do the same with a few other varieties 😊 plus there's a lot of flowers to help the bee populations

One of the things I do to protect the earth is never use ACs no matter how hot it is. And it’s one of the things I’m proud of myself for. While many, whether they’re know it and don’t care or just don’t know that using ACs destroys the ozone layer, I’m knowingly saving it by not using ACs which is one of the reasons why I stopped using them

@akunknown your intention is wonderful The AC that uses freon can harm the environment.

Another type of cooler is an evaporative cooler or swamp cooler.  It works well in dry non-humid environments. You can even make your own.  Search in browser under "make your own swamp cooler" and you will find Youtube videos and  plans.

Too much heat can make the body sick and could be fatal. If you are really suffering from the heat consider these first aid measures to keep you well.   https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2022/08/09/1116305904/11-more-tips-on-how-to-stay-cool-without-an-a-c-recommended-by-nprs-readers

@soulsings

Thank you but yes too much heat or too much of anything for that matter isn’t good for anyone. I currently don’t think I’m sick right now from too much heat so right now I have no worries about that :)

My family is hosting an earth day celebration in our neighborhood! We have recycled crafts, painting planters, free seed packets, wildflower blend shakers, music, a free plant stand, a little library, and a few other things I can’t remember. I’m hoping it’s well attended
