Fearlessness. Over the years, I realized that people who did not belong to my social circle were far more interesting. As one of my great aunts said one day at a party: "She is British BUT she is very nice". She came a long way.

My own family was quite excited when I brought in my own friends from India, Viet Nam, Uganda, Japan, and mostly classmates from the Oriental Language School in Paris. Engaging in conversation was way easier.

I was what, 23, when I realized that not everyone was "straight". If I am supportive of the LBTQ community, it is by not having any opinion about it. It's just another human being who easily becomes a friend like anyone else.

Like a song from Donovan in the 70s said: "It takes all kinds to make the world go round"

"It's just another human being" - these words say it all! No judgment but inclusivity!

What does inclusivity in a community mean to you?

No judgement. It is sad that even in 2025, so many still judges a book by its cover. I know this all too well.

@amiablePeace77 What does inclusivity in a community mean to you?

We are all equal in the sense that we all want to be happy and to be free of misery. We are all family even though we differ greatly. We have common ground that ties us together with everyone. If we exclude anyone then we separate ourselves in our minds from this inclusivity. That does not mean we condone negative behavior, but the person despite their actions has the potential for goodness even if it is not yet developed and manifest.

I very much agree with you soul. We all want to be happy, but we all need to be conscious about our behavior too.

@amiablePeace77 I believe virtuous behavior results in happiness and non-virtuous behavior even if exciting at first is a source of unhappiness in the long run.

What does inclusivity in a community mean to you?

To me, inclusivity in any community means certain people are wrongfully being excluded or left out bc the people who are leaving them out are most likely assuming certain things about them that the people in the community believe or think justify not having them included.

It also illustrates the people left out are not valued, respected, appreciated, or worth it which is wrong too.

Excluding someone just bc they’re quiet, don’t have any or enough social skills, etc is very unfair.

Making assumptions about people you don’t know or before you know enough about them and using that to not welcome them into a community isn’t right.

I’ve experienced this myself before a lot as I was growing up but to a lesser level I’m still experiencing it now. So I know how it makes people who are left out feel and impact or affect them. It’s nowhere near good. And it’s difficult getting past that.

I am very sorry that you had to suffer from the effects of exclusivity! It can be very hard on a person not being accepted in the community 💙.

You gave a great definition of exclusivity! We need to be inclusive in this world!

Omg so sorry. I defined the wrong word. My vision wasn’t 100% so it looked like exclusivity to me so I covered that word. I’ll cover inclusivity now that I know that’s the correct word. Apologies again for the wrong word.

Inclusivity to me means including other people, accepting them as they are, and getting along/being friends with others.

If you’re welcomed in a group or community, it’s only fair that you pay that welcome forward by welcoming others into it too.

To me, inclusivity means allowing the space for others to share their thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. It requires having an open mind and an open heart. While we may not all agree on each little thing, we can all show someone else compassion, understanding, and kindness. Maybe even be curious to why they believe certain things without attempting to change their mind.

My time on 7 Cups has taught me a lot about allowing each person the space to speak their truth, and appreciating them for revealing that to me.

I believe we live in a disconnected world. People don't understand themselves or others as deeply as they'd like to think. Myself included.

Allowing people the space to show up as they is powerful because we get to see where they are in life, and we can choose to meet them there or to move on. Neither being good or bad.

So, listen a little longer. Ask a few more questions. Do as much good as you can. And withhold all judgement.
