Toughest challenge you faced
Everyone has stresses some time. Looking back at 2022
-
What did you go through last year that you thought you would be more than you could handle?
Last year was a lot to handle. My mother passed, I became homeless again, unemployed, dealt with transportation issues, had friends walk away, found myself alone, had to accept family being distant, kids being upset with me, dealing with not feeling like I'm enough, and making sure I stayed safe.
@courageousPomegranate766 Very sorry for your loss.
I hope 2023 is a bit better for you.
@soulsings moving on from my x that past away I was living in grief comparing everything good and bad to our relationship dreaming about him wishing he would come back …..I’ve started to come to peace that he’s past away
@soulsings I thought that not getting into graduate school would be something that I would have a really hard time getting over. Don't get me wrong, it was not easy to recover. But I was surprised how quickly I was able to bounce back and start preparing for this year's application cycle! We are all a lot more resilient than we think. 😊
@fruityPond7887 glad you did not blame yourself or go into deep sadness. I took time off and got jobs in between years of college and it halpeed a lot
@soulsings I agree! There’s nothing like work experience and building your skill set in between years in school 😊
My mom died in September and I was in charge of everything. My younger brother has ADHD/Autism and my older brother is lost somewhere addicted to heroin so I had to take care of everything. Her hoarded apartment, funeral, burial, and a few bills she had left behind because she spent her life insurance already.
@TransAm85
I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your mom in September 💙. It must have been incredibly hard to deal with this and still taking care of your brothers and everything else.
@soulsings
The biggest stressor for me last year was my mom. I was becoming a completely different person that year and I had to face the critical opinion I knew she would have on it. But now that it’s a new year, I know better than to let her keep me from feeling like myself.
@RyDaRaccoon06 I hear you. Telling people who will not understand my deepest, most private spaces is something I am learning not to do. I do not cut out people I have been close to but they are not as close to me as before and I try to keep to topics they understand and approve of. It helps. What they do not know will not hurt them and will not hurt me either with rejection or anger.
Built my house for the second time, but not by choice this time. Our first house that we built was hit by lightning and caught fire last year. Lived with my in-laws in a small house the 6 of us. In May, moved to our trailers on our property to be on site during the build as my husband was our general contractor. And we wanted to be on site to help. In October we moved in. Now I'm so glad to have my home back we still have work to do. But we are back in.
@NeonBunny5008 glad you are back in your house.
You may have already thought of this, but often builders add a lightning rod that grounds the lightning strikes that may happen into the ground. My dad was an electrician but I am not sure exactly how that is done,
Hi Soul
Thanks for the advice. Yes we have been considering putting one on our house.
@soulsings
workplace harassment and bullying while working in a job in a foreign country by myself, and I thought it was going to be my dream job, I fought hard to get the promotion to this role. I liked the other aspects of the job besides the chronic disrespect from the supervisor who was continuously putting me down.
@soulsings
Oh lord, I had a toxic workplace and toxic boss that wanted to ruin my career, all of this happening while I was working overseas in a foreign country. I had to quit the job and come back home.
