An abusive relationship in which I thought he was the love of my life.

I can only imagine how painful this time was for you. Glad you took the courage to get out of this abusive relationship!

  • The idiom "water under the bridge" refers to past events, disagreements, or mistakes that cannot be changed and are no longer considered important or worth worrying about.

  • It signifies letting go of past grievances, forgiving past issues, or moving forward without carrying resentment or regret.

Everything that has passed is "Water under the bridge",
"We cannot live in the past, we cannot predict the future, all we can do is be the BEST person we can be in THIS moment." ~ Direwolf

I have come to see life as a series of bridges with solid ground between. We cross a bridge (deal with a challenge) and come to safe ground beyond it. We travel a little way on this "safe ground" until we are faced with another bridge (challenge) - we negotiate that bridge and we are back on safe ground, so on and so forth.

Thus, every "challenge" we face, and negotiate, becomes water under the bridge.

D.

Being left out of a birthday party by someone who I thought was a friend.   While it hurt, I realize that she is the one who decided not to invite me or own up to how she was treating me.

@Summershy

I'm really sorry you went through this, and I can understand that it was really upsetting. One would not expect this from a friend.

Me too and I ended up not only calling her out but lashing out as well.   Yet, instead of taking accountability, she and her mom decided to try and villify me by telling other people how "Mean" I am.

People often feel uneasy or upset when they are blamed or asked to take responsibility for something.

@Summershy

If I may, Summershy, I don't know, fully, the circumstances of your "friendship" with this other person but as far as I can see you did nothing wrong.

"Our feelings", writes Sherry Van Dijk in "Calming the Emotional Storm", "are valid and we have every right to feel them."

Their actions, after the fact, simply demonstrate how shallow they truly are and thus, in my opinion, are not worth giving a second thought to.
Namaste,
D.

Oh I agree with you on the shallowness but I have to accept that.   I have also chosen to accept that they are the ones who made that choice and have to live with how they treated me.

In the meantime, I am working on protectig my peace and staying away from them as much as possible.

Good morning Summer,
...and that is about all you can do, at the end of the day, separate yourself from that which injures.

Also,  that is just one birthday party and there will always be other events and people who do want me around.  She and her mother were not two of them

Rather than foregoing a convention due to being treated poorly by some staff last year, I decided to volunteer in a different department away from them.   I have also decided to avoid that department and all of those people.   Meanwhile, I am focusing on getting ready for the convention this year and spend time with my own friends.

That I have to be perfect.
