Where do you feel belonging? What makes you feel you belong?
I feel belonging when I am in my home country. But I also feel like I belong here as I have learned a lot about the various cultures. The sense of belonging emerges when I feel I am respected for my culture.

I hear you! Feeling respected for your culture is important, it presents your values and beliefs.
For me belonging isn’t necessarily a place, it’s who else is there. If someone is genuinely wanting to hear what I have to say; my opinions, my random thoughts, my problems etc. some one is willing to encourage and not give up on my when I resist opening up to them.
Then allows me to hear & support them in the same way. Both of us listening to each other with compassion & understanding. That is “where” I feel I belong.

It's very hard to get a sense of belonging when you feel that no one wants you to exist where you live. I am glad you come here and feel welcomed.

This is where education from a young age is the key. The more exposure to different people and cultures, the better. One learns to socially adjust anywhere that way and gains confidence. Nowadays, (English-speaking) people talk about "going out of one's comfort zone".

I very much agree with you Fradiga. From teenage age I exposed myself to different cultures and learned a lot about them. We had a big group with teens and young adults from all over the world. It helped me to understand that what I learned in my culture is not the only thing valid but that there is much more.
I usually feel a sense of belonging when I'm hanging out with close friends, just being ourselves and having a good time. 😊
