Best hikes
I'm a great fan of tropical vegetation so years ago I went for an amazing hike in Guatemala. The trees and plants with their huge leaves were breathtaking and I thoroughly enjoyed the hike.
What was the best hike/walk you ever did?

@amiablePeace77 So I'm not super into hikes, but my boyfriend and I went to Maine and took a ferry to one of the islands and it was beautiful! We rode bikes around the whole island! I wasn't super happy with the idea at the time, but I enjoy looking back at the pictures! :)
@fruityPond7887
I loved Maine when I visited years ago.
I guess the idea to ride around a whole island with a bike can feel kind of overwhelming first but glad you enjoyed it. Seems it is a great memory after all 😊!
@amiablePeace77 It definitely was and the views were gorgeous! ❤️
@amiablePeace77- Honestly each hike is the best one at the time. Blessed to live in the Pacific Northwest with lots of scenic hikes. Easy day hikes from Artists Point at Mount Baker. Hard backpack trips on the flanks of Glacier Peak. More day hikes using car camping in the Winthrop area to reach the North Cascades trails. Often taking sketchbooks to capture the scenes.
But the best hike is when we simply leave our home and walk neighboring properties with spectacular views across the water to the Olympic mountains to the south and Cascades to the east.
Each time we do this walk we remember how blessed we are to live in such a special place.
Thank you for this uplifting thread - a reminder how fortunate to live on a beautiful planet.
@barncat I agree we are so fortunate.
@barncat
Just watching the pictures online of the Olympic mountains and the Cascade range is breathtaking! Not everyone has such a beautiful view but there is always something there our planet offers us to see if we care, even if it's only the amazing wild flowers at the side of the trail we walk. We all as blessed to live on planet Earth.
Honestly Jacob's Ladder in Derbyshire, England. The rolling hills are beautiful as you ascend the steps, with a river snaking through. Makes you feel so small, but it's so exhilarating too! I haven't been to many exotic hikes but this one takes the cake. Maybe I'm biased cause I'm British lol
@kindozzy27
I did not know about this place so I googled it and must say it's very beautiful and peaceful to me. Often we find the most beautiful places not too far away from us.
@kindozzy27 sounds wonderful.

My hike with Archie in Klöntal. How can I turn the picture? Kala I turned the picture by saving the image and opening it in a photo editor and rotating clockwise -soulsings

Trek to Otto Meiling Mountain Refuge, near Bariloche, Argentina. Close to the border with Chile.

@HealingTalk wow that is far up in the mountains.
@soulsings
It's a very strenuous trek, but not mountaineering really.
Soooo beautiful place...
There are also some other amazing trails in that area.
@HealingTalk looks like a winter environment
@soulsings
It snows even in summer. It's cold and humid up there.
On both sides, there are permanent glaciers, that originate two rivers important in that area.
And behind, permanent snow toward the peak (that feeds both glaciers).
@HealingTalk wow that is amazing. I am not a lover of snow.

What a beautiful thread. :)
I love hiking and it's one of my favourite things to do. Here is a photo below of one of my favourite hikes. It is in South Africa in a place called Plettenberg Bay in a nature reserve called Robberg and it is just outstanding. The natural beauty is incredible. You have the ocean either side of the trail and you can see and hear seals swimming in the Atlantic ocean. It is quite a challenging hike in some parts but lots of nature and one of my favourite places to go!
