Self-care is important but it does not always mean taking a warm bubble bath or sit down quietly. Sometimes a good scream (for example into a pillow) can help very well to release tension in a safe and controlled way.

What helps you best to get immediate relief when you feel on-edge?

@amiablePeace77 When I am on edge and I need immediate relief, I like to take some deep breaths, go for a walk, or if necessary, take my emergency medicine to calm down. They are there to help me through a panic attack and I am grateful that we have medicine like that to help when needed!

What helps you best to get immediate relief when you feel on-edge?

In my case, it would be a cigarette

@Fradiga

I remember when I was smoking (about 35 years ago) it calmed me too. Gladly I could give up smoking and today other things like breathing exercises help me even more!

:D Yeah, you are one of those people who followed advice and good for you! At least, you have spending money for other things. I was given breathing exercises at Lamaze classes and..... it turned out I did not need the technique when both times came. I feel like a tough cookie by now.

@amiablePeace77 What helps you best to get immediate relief when you feel on-edge?

The first thing that came to mind was take a deep breath and let it out with a sigh as if in relief.

@soulsings

Nice! I think deep breathing helps many people, in through the nose, out through the mouth when stress is high.

You all are so doggone nice! Unfortunately, before I found seven cups I got so depressed I did not want to be here anymore and the only thing that helped me was cigarettes. I only needed one but I didn't have one or no anyone who smoked and I can't drive so I put on the neighborhood website and someone whom I don't know went and got some for me. Now I have to work on quitting again. That isn't my go-to though, I listen to mad music... I think just because I don't feel alone in my anger sadness disappointment... Whatever. One of my goat uses a song called "shut up while I'm talking to you" if I feel like people aren't hearing me or "erase myself" if I I'm feeling very sad.

@adaptableOcean4193

I'm so glad that you did not give into your feelings and are here with us! 💙

I never heard about a neighborhood website but it sounds like a really good idea in case one needs meds or something else.
