Party Edition - Trauma Community Check In - Monday April 16th 2018 🎉
So many reasons to celebrate today! Its National Eggs Benedict Day - mmm, cheesy, eggy, muffiny goodness! Its wear your pyjamas to work day - yay, comfort wear! And its Save the Elephant Day - and so we should! Which puts me in the mood for my favourite elephant joke....
An elephant is drinking out of a river when he spots a turtle asleep on a log. The elephant ambles over and kicks the unsuspecting turtle clear across the river.
Why did you do that? asks a passing giraffe.
Because I recognized it as the same turtle that took a nip out of my trunk 47 years ago.
Wow, what a memory! says the giraffe.
Yes, says the elephant. Turtle recall.
Anyhoo, biggest reason to celebrate? On April 24th the 7 cups traumatic experiences sub community will be one year old - taadaa! 🎺 🎈
And so dear trauma family, how would you like to mark this occasion? A few fun and games, sharing of stories, a birthday party? All ideas are welcomed, either on this thread, or send me a private message - just click on my picture to find me.
And are you able to help out with any of the celebrations? We need cake baking, toe tapping, lip smacking, mirth making, game playing, fun having, story telling, friendship making volunteers. Is that you?
And whilst were about it, its Monday. So if you have that Monday feeling, have an elephant joke, muffin recipe, or set of snazzy pyjamas youre dying to show off, or just want to say hi, all are welcome to this thread. Post away, its your space, Ill keep it safe for you :)

@DeborahUK
*salutes Deb* Hello, Deborah!
WOW, today is all sorts of kick@ss stuff. XD
Uh! ...Hmn...How about one of those Joke contest threads? Loved those! <3 Maybe karaoke? I know there's a poetry contest going on for the Writers/Readers club right now for spring. Hmmmmn~. If you need a giant pot of curry, I'm your gal! Can make cake in a pinch, but if you want it decorated without looking like some abomination you'll have to get someone for that part. XP I hope there's a petting zoo!
Woo! Birthday! It's very close to mine. *hides*

@CaloenasNicobarica
Lots of great ideas, thanks. I did love the joke thread myself. Sometimes you just need to laugh at yourself dont you? Especially as you tick off more and more birthdays!
As for cake decorating, how about this as one way to end up with more cake for yourself?

@DeborahUK
Thanks. XD Ermahgerd, I love that cake! Have heard comedians who would order a cake for an event and have it be a completely different event with a random name so people felt awkward that they were eating someone's graduation cake or something. Seriously! Been takin' stuff way too seriously lately.
RE: Activity ideas. Totes for the Joke thread! <3 Also thought of an art gallery with the trauma comm's art submissions. Maybe a theme. Similar to the theme of the writing competition which is focusing on spring/rebirth/flowers and such. Also... a coloring contest for those not artistically inclined. Maybe not a contest, though. Anyway, shower thoughts for what they're worth. XD
On that tangent of the lolcakes.

National Child Abuse Prevention Month April 16th-22nd - Speakers Corner - Life after Trauma audio event
This Event is now Open!!!!

To often Child Abuse renders it's victims silent, unheard, invisible. They often feel unable to turn to anyone. Afraid of being blamed, judged, rejected, shunned, being disbelieved, afraid of the consequences if they tell etc. And above all else afraid of being hurt once more.
So many stories are untold and unheard, stories that could encourage others, tell of hardships, fears, and disappointments, but also of great bravery, overcoming obstacles and hope. This event is an opportunity for all of us to hear Survivors of Child Abuse tell us their stories.
This event allows Survivors to speak about recovery, hope, about how to support others, how to help children who are still going through this today, how you can prevent children from suffering what they went through. They want you to listen to their messages. For you to give them the voice they never had as children.
Please see here for more details join this great event and hear the Survivors of Child Abuse have a voice now!

How Can Survivors Stories Help Future Generations Video event Apr 16th-22nd 2018
April is Child Abuse Prevention & Awareness Month and we would love to create a video with the lessons you learned from your trauma stories. The aim is to help children of future generations avoid abuse.
What we would like you to do is to create your own video clip, picture or slideshow to send in via the submission form (below). This form will be anonymous unless you wish to add your name to your submission. You can send in video clips you have made to explain to viewers what you have learned. Please do not include specific details of your trauma. This video is about helping future generations to stay safe or get help if they are being abused.
Instructions for submissions are here:
You must make sure that your identity is kept anonymous inline with 7Cups guidelines.
We would love for you all to take part in this and welcome all your submissions

@Raveninthelabrynth
Just soooo much going on!
@DeborahUK Hugs

I am so so so frustrted.
Yup - another random check in post from blissed!
I go to the trauma/ED/SH program today...
another day of NO counselors talking to me one on one about trauma....just excpected to open up and talk/share in group.
I do not know how, I do not feel comfortable and I do not know how to do this 1-1, let alone in a GROUP!
So, I will go again today, pray and meditate beforehand.....get there , hit the "wall" - and not be able to talk/share/heal.
Another day of walking out of the program feeling WORSE and NOT being helped and feeling more alone and isolated.
Wondering if there is even help available or if i will ever be able to talk about it or ever be able to be healed from this.
@blissedNblessed
Hey, you made it to the program, thats quite something. And maybe as you sit and listen to others you may feel less alone. And one day you may feel empowered to say something and be heard. I wonder if imagining yourself speaking up beforehand may just give you that extra boost. It may be you still dont feel able to share anything, but then again it may just allow you to break that silence.
@DeborahUK
you mean like talk about things Before the group starts?
@blissedNblessed
I mean more like a mental run through of you speaking up. Theres a word for it. Hmmm, need to hit google....Visualising! So the idea is you visualise, in your mind, the event that you find difficult to face. But in your visualisation, the outcome is of you finding success with it. So think positive really. Because that mental approach is part of the battle. Do you think Olympians face their sport thinking ‘nah, no chance here. No, they surely look to achieve a personal best, to exceed their previous performance, to be more successful. And hey, if it doesnt quite turn out the way you wanted, at least you gave it your best shot. And theres always next time.
@DeborahUK
oooohh i like wearing pyjamas to work day,, so wish I could, would be sooooo much comfier hmm not sure if that's a word?! I like the idea of karoake for celebrating :D... oohhh I can paint a cake,, it won't be edible but might look pretty?
Hope you have a good day / night
@calmLake1999
Cake looks like a much wanted theme for the 1st birthday celebrations! And we could always have a pyjama party.
Ill have to check out what date karaoke is on for child abuse awareness month. Perhaps we could combine the two.
@DeborahUK
Ooh yay pyjama party

@Hope3729
Id love some help if youre up for it Hope. Any idea of something you might run that day? Could be forums, thread, or a chat room if we can find mods. You sound like youre an expert in partying 🎈 🎉
@DeborahUK can I may message you about this all? :)
@Hope3729
Please do, that would be great :)
@DeborahUK ups it says I cant message an adult listener if they arent a Teen Star. :(
@Hope3729
Oh no! Hmm, how can we communicate? How about on this thread?
