Trauma Support Check-in March 27th - April 2nd
Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well. :)
This week's topic is connections. Connections with other people is important because humans are social creatures at their core. If not for connections, we wouldn't have been born!
Trauma, especially when involved with PTSD, can create difficulty in forming connections. Often with trauma our trust has been broken, and it can be hard to trust again. However, forming connections is important to our healing process. Connections with ourselves, our emotions, and other people.
Feel free to share what's on your mind. Below are some optional questions:
1. Do you find it hard to form connections?
2. What's a way you could form a connection, with yourself, your emotions, or another person this week or year?
3. How are you doing?
Best wishes, WriteToHeal42

Connections are really hard for me. I don’t trust easily and a lot of people don’t understand why I keep them at arms length. I have some friendships but I keep others very much at bay.
im doing okay tonight, I am struggling to stay in the present. Just trying to continue to ground myself.
Hi @ShelbyJohnson,
I hear you, connections are hard for you. It's totally understandable after experiencing trauma. I'm glad to hear you have some friendships despite this, and that you were okay when you posted this. 😊
Sorry to hear you were struggling to stay in the present. Good work at trying to ground yourself, that can be really helpful.
@ShelbyJohnson
Hi Shelby, keeping people at arms length can be good and bad, we need connections but don't want to be hurt, it's a difficult balance.
Remember we're all in this together, have a magical journey your friend Flute.
Do you find it hard to form connections? Yes.
What is a way you could form a connection? I am trying to get in touch with my emotions but it is proving difficult. I am really trying to meditate consistently and identify what I'm feeling if I do have an emotional rush of feeling.
How are you doing? Not very well to be honest. The PTSD symptoms are worse and getting worse lately. It's frustrating and some days I just want to push the off button. I'm in therapy and I'm doing everything they suggest but it's not working. I'm more disconnected from everything and everyone lately and I really just want to isolate and drink but I've been fighting that.
Hi @DarkGalaxy55555,
Sorry to hear you have trouble forming connections. At the same time it's understandable after experiencing trauma that you would struggle with this.
Good work at trying to get in touch with your emotions, that's not easy. Sorry to hear it's being a struggle for you. You have got this!
Sorry to hear you're not doing well when you posted this. I can understand, it can feel so frustrating when things are worsening despite our best efforts. It's normal to get into slumps where things don't improve at times, but it can feel so disheartening. Don't give up, but remember to be easy on yourself! I can understand the desire to drink and isolate. I imagine you already know that's a temporary "fix" to a longer term problem... Good for you to keep fighting it!
@DarkGalaxy55555
Sounds like your having a rough time, it's so hard to maintain sometimes, emotions are difficult to understand in the best of times. Hope things look up soon. Your trying and that matters. It's great your fighting the feeling wanting to isolate and drink. You're not alone, fight on!
@WriteToHeal42
1. Sometimes. My biggest problems with forming connection are trying to have longer conversations with someone I don't know well (I start feeling uncomfortable) and just not having enough time for them.
2. I just need more time in my own mind. I haven't been able to hear myself think for some time.
3. I guess I'm doing ok. I don't want to work this next week. I feel overdue for another vacation already.
Hi @Torean, I hear you. It's understandable that it can sometimes be hard for you to form connections, especially after trauma. It makes sense that you feel uncomfortable when you don't know someone well and you are trying to have longer conversations. It takes time and work to get into a comfortable flow with people, so it can be hard when you don't always have that time.
Sorry to hear that you're struggling to hear yourself think. I hope you get the time and space that you need to reconnect with your own mind.
Good to hear you were doing okay when you posted this. I hope you find the breaks you feel you need from work, it's understandable that you want to take another break.
@WriteToHeal42
How are you doing? Thanks for all your hard work here😊❤️
1. Do you find it hard to form connections?
I feel that it's impossible for me to form connections, because I can't keep in touch with my colleagues and I can't make them my friends and I can't start new connections.
2. What's a way you could form a connection, with yourself, your emotions, or another person this week or year?
I don't know.
3. How are you doing?
I feel like a dead body. I can't start anything at all, I don't have the power to open my laptop and download a crack to activate my architecture programs license, I can't read anything to choose my MA thesis subject, I can't regulate my sleep and eating time to reduce my blood glucose to make a cataract surgery on both my eyes. I'm turning into the worst.
Hi @DinaElwy, I hear you. You feel like it's impossible for you to form connections and you seem to struggle with maintaining any connections with your colleges. It takes baby steps to start, so please remember to be easy on yourself while you try.
You say you don't know how to make a connection, and that's okay. By reaching out here, you took the first step in making one connection. Good job!
I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling like a dead body as well as struggling with so many other tasks in life. It sounds like you need a break and some support as you try to move forward. You're always welcome to share more here at 7cups, if you want to ❤️ You feel like you are turning into the worst, but I hope you find the hope to carry on, as well as some gentle self care for yourself. One step at a time. I believe in you!
@WriteToHeal42
1. Do you find it hard to form connections?
Yes I do, I'm somewhat isolated.
2. What's a way you could form a connection, with yourself, your emotions, or another person this week or year?
Get out more, meet new people, which I created a forum to do just that.
3. How are you doing?
Not bad! Thanks for asking.
@WriteToHeal42
Yes connecting to others is hard. being in my own skin is hard enough. Maybe fear of rejection or abandonment🤷♀️
@scarletPear1945
Being afraid of being rejected can be tough to get through, putting yourself out there can be scary, I hope you can overcome it,ik it's easier said than done, but remember we're here for you. Stay Magical!
@ChildGoddessFlute
Thank you, that was sweet.😁
@WriteToHeal42
Connections are difficult and easy for me. I can make them but it's hard for me to let people know about me. Like on a deep level. It took me so long to be able to tell my friends I loved them and share my feelings with them.
@PatientLove13
I understand that feeling all to well, letting people in is hard to do. You got this! stay magical!
Hi, connections have been very hard to form recently because I feel like I am learning so much about myself. Every day, I learn new things about my trauma and what causes me to be me, however every time I learn something new, I also realize how it broke other connections. I think I need to learn to trust myself again therefore I want to learn how to form a connection with myself. I’m doing okay. Hope everyone is doing well!
@Elephantfriend18
Magical greetings friend! Getting to know yourself and learning to trust yourself is important and hard. It's great that you're working on it 👍, have a magical journey your friend Flute
@ChildGoddessFlute
Thank you!
Not well but attempting to hang in there. Half the time I feel my guardian angel is absent
@Saoirse32ie
