Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-In Sunday May 13th 2018
Good Morning Alle, I hope Everyone is well today.
I took my rest late, and thus awoke (comparitively). As I completed my morning prayers and rites this morning I stood still in the cold morning aer to be with the world around me. A dark cloak of fur covers most of the sky this morning yet Sol, the Sun breaks through. I can smell and hear my neighbours cattle rousing each other for breakfast and the new day. The trees are filled with song. A pair of cranes flew over head (strange sound they make). I coughed and 4 deer in my middle pasture stood up and vanished into our wood. Many geese flew over head, Behold the fire of migration! Life is returning with the fair weather.
As I came back indoors and made my morning cup, I pondered Perception. If I payed attention to the modern world creeping and sprawling miles in the distance I would have recognized the sounds of a near by rural highway with light early Sunday morning traffic. I would have heard car doors of my neighbours hastilly closing as a weary soul heads off to a job he dreads giving his freedom to. If I payed attention I would have heard aerplaines in the sky rushing people to far away lands. Alle I hear in my morning is the sounds of the natural world around me as I choose.
Perception is an amazing and powerful thing. Handled with care and grace, one can see, hear, smell, taste, and feel an amazing and wonder filled world around them. But our perceptions can also confuse, and misguide us. One may look at the awesome and devestating force of a volcano and see destruction and woe, or one may look at it and see the beauty of change and rebirth in it's chaos. How do you see and wish to see your world around you? How do you use your power of perception? Do you fixate on the chaos and destruction, or do you see the beauty in change?
Drop us a phost, speak your glory or woe, or just say hi. The world is yours, have the courage to take it and make it so.

I keep so much insade me...
and makes me feel lonely
@Raveninthelabrynth
Such a beautifully written check in Raven, and a great topic to ponder.
What you describe sounds heavenly, but I suspect any of us living in a developed and democratic country have our own slice of heaven right there. Freedom, rights, food, shelter - all beautiful things to have.
@Raveninthelabrynth
What a beautiful and peaceful image you described here, I can almost see it right in front of me 😊
Perception is indeed a tricky thing, I'm trying to focus on the beauty in the world, in nature, in people... We are surrounded by magic, we just have to open our eyes and see it, see the good in the bad, not see the traffic jam, but feeling how calm the world gets when everybody turns off the motor on the motorway, how you suddenly can hear the birds, the wind... The good in the bad, a moment of peace and silence...
I'm going to spend some time alone today, concentrating on the good, the beauty in the world, in my life, perhaps even in myself, hm, trying to find my inner self... I'm not good at changes, but perhaps I don't have to change, perhaps I'm already ok how I am and the only change I need is accepting that... We're all children of this world and we are good like we are... and perhaps that even applies for myself...
Have a beautiful and peaceful day 😊
@courteousNorth5140 Beautifully Spoken North.
Yes we're still the child, "The only thing misplaced was direction,and I found direction, there is no childhoods end." (Marillion)
"Jack will you never sleep? Does that green spell run deep in your heart? But will these changing times, motorways, powerlines, keep us apart? Well I don't think so, I saw some grass growing up through the pavement today..." (Jethro Tull)

@courteousNorth5140 Yep, there they ar lol
@Raveninthelabrynth
Craaazy philosophical mooood 😁 you all have my permission to laugh at me, only for once 😝
Nature is showing us the way, every day around us, like the dandelion growing through the concrete, we have to break through the walls, our own walls, the walls of society, of our past... We have the right to be and to grow... It probably wasn't the easiest place the dandelion could have chosen, but it is like it is, it definitely made the best of it through all the obstacles... And through all obstacles we too can bloom, as hard as it is...
Over and out 😊💕
ARGH!!
@agreeableKite4304 @wizeakre @DeborahUK
You all have compelled me to make this post.
I need support. (Not necessarily from any of you but from someone). I woke up today furious with myself. (Look at my feed for reference). I need some kind of support.
@singercrystalspirit
I'm here with you, Singer *hugs* and I AM your friend... You're one of us, one of our blanket fort family 💕
@courteousNorth5140
*hugs*... I wish we could do fun things together. Talking is good (really good), but it is nice to just do things. I think it would help get the mind off heavy stuff, and help build positive experiences and help the mind move on. (Not directed towards you. Just thinking about this yesterday).
@singercrystalspirit
Well, you made me think of that too yesterday... You are right, it would be nice to do fun things together, go for a coffee, braid each others hair 😉 buuuut I just don't think I could be any closer to you if we've met irl, probably I'd be be waaay more distant... You are all here with me, sitting on my sofa with me, you just can't see my dinosaur pants 😁 that's the only difference... Wrote sth in my diary about it yesterday, in my philosophical mood 😝 you mean a lot to me Singer, I really care for you and believe me, here I definitely have more words than irl 💕
@singercrystalspirit
Hey Singer, what
@BeeLeigh
*hugs* Bee. I am struggling with the way I view myself and my life. I am so caught up on 'not being where or who I want to be' and 'thinking I'm not good enough.' I want to feel okay. I want to feel like everything is okay. I want to feel safe and secure.
@singercrystalspirit
Good on you for reaching out, and Im just sorry its taken me so long to spot your post. Your feed posts are challenging, youre so down on yourself, and I hate to think of you feeling that way. There are no magic words, no simple solution, but I do understand. Maybe not your situation uniquely, but I understand feeling hopeless, helpless and unimportant. What I learnt from that time was Im none of those things, and neither are you Singer. Youre welcome to message me, maybe I can help you see your value. If nothing else, I can reassure you youre not alone in this world, even if it feels a very lonely place to you right now.
@DeborahUK
*hugs* Deb
That's one of the hardest things for me, seeing my value. As a perfectionist... mixed with the trauma I experienced. Lord, I wonder if it's time to let the trauma go. It's in the past. It's not happening to me anymore.
Feeling a bit down today, apparently it's that time of the year for mothers (here was last week but for the most apart could avoid it - today internet reminded me ugh) and it hurts. Just trying to ignore it, truth be told. Distract. If my mother was dead or had abandoned me literally I would be allowed by 'society' to hate it, but since it wasn't, I'm supposed to love it
But at least my physical health is better and have finally gotten out of that depression/emptiness hole that this week haunted me since monday, so that's good. As I say this I'm getting a headache lol
Hey Raven and everyone else
What a great thread and beautiful topic!
Today is okay. Am being physically a bit sick, but will gladly be able to to some self care tomorrow and tuesday to refill my energy tank - have been quite busy and eshausted the past days.
Wishing everyone a lovely day!
Oh My, another long day lol.
Such awesome work done here, in the forums, and in todays discussion.
Much Love Alle

I do these seminars and they like to tell us context is decisive. Context is used in the same way as perception. Whatever your context is (however you perceive something) is how it's going to be.
I have been struggling a lot lately because after 9 years of undergrad I found out less than a month before graduation that I would be able to graduate. When I found out I was so conflicted because my graduation would be on the same day as my brother's graduation party because he graduated grad school the day before my undergrad graduation and I thought I was going to have to choose. At first I didn't think I cared about participating in the ceremonies because I wanted to support my brother, but then after some conversation I became convinced that I wanted to particpate because I deserve to celebrate my accomplishment. So I spent the last few weeks preparing for graduation planning on going to the big commencement ceremony. I even got my nails done in school colors and added red and blue to my hair (also school colors). Thursday afternoon I went to campus to exchange my gown for a larger one and decided I was going to go to the psychology department and ask if i could be in the psychology department ceremony on Friday. So Friday I walked across the stage and was acknowledged as a 2018 graduate from the psychology department. What it made me realize was that I didn't want to go to the big school commencement with 4000+ people I didn't know sitting outside in the heat in a black robe for 2 hours. That wasn't the memory I wanted of my graduation day. The memory I wanted was to be with the people who have loved and support me through everything.
So, this morning, instead of going to my own graduation, I went to church because my church was there for me when my parents literally weren't (when my parents lost their parental rights, and when my mom had a stroke and my dad left me homeless). The members of my church have been a part of my life for 21 years. Then I drove 2 hours to my brother's graduation (he was adopted when my parents lost their rights) and spent the afternoon with my two brothers.
I spent the day yesterday torn between what to do. People kept saying I'd regret not going to commencement, but I didn't need to walk down a giant hill and sit in a football stadium with a bunch of strangers to know I accomplished something awesome. What was more important was spending my day surrounded by love and support.
@InvaderStitch Hej Stitch how are you. That is interesting what you said about contect. I myself tend to use context in a past tense, as in when I am trying to remember what someone long gone looked like. Can't just think on the person without putting into some context.
Huge Congratulations on making it through school. Not so sure I would wish to attend my own graduation myself. So, do we call you Dr Stitch now?
Much Love and Respek
