Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-in Friday 8th September 2017
Hey everyone! Hope your enjoying your Friday so far and are fully prepared for the weekend ahead. So I though today we could discuss how to better care for ourselves while struggling with trauma. I personally understand what it's like and staying strong and pushing through does get tiring but it's the other things we do while pushing through which help us.
After a trauma, its important to keep your body healthy and strong. You may be healing from injuries or feeling emotionally drained. Good physical health can support you through this time. Think about a time when you felt physically healthy and try to think about the routine you had then, for example like how was your sleeping pattern? What sort of foods were you eating? And what sort of activities were you doing at the time?
But that's just physical emotional pain is quite difficult to deal with too and that is a big factor in the road to getting past this. Emotional self-care means different things to different people. The key to emotional self-care is being in tune with yourself. Think about a time when you felt balanced and grounded. Once again try to think back to a time when you were really happy and emotionally fine and think about things like: what activities did you enjoy? Was there any places you liked going more than anywhere else? Were you keeping a journal/diary of all your thoughts? Who were the people you spend tome with? Sometimes being with close friends can really help even if they don't know what your going through they can distract you, what did you do with your spare time? Hobbies are a great way to escape and temporarily distract your self and help you calm down.
Have you got any healthy coping methods to help get through a bad day? What are those methods?
This is a safe space feel free to share your thoughts we are all here to help and support each other. *huge hugs to everyone*

Aaww, I for one shall be sad to wave goodbye. I always enjoyed reading your posts which both inspired me and made me think. As you know, we had some similarities in our history, and your strength was also a source of strength to me. Having said all that, I'm delighted you feel well enough to move on, and that you have something to focus your energies on. Just know there's no shame or defeat if you ever feel the need to pop back in on your member account for support, or why not just wave at us from time to time :)
Very best wishes to you Mary
Deb ❤️
