Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-in Tuesday 17th April 2018
Hello lovely "trauma family"
Just reading the Party Edition and Deb's post "Soooo much going on" hit a chord. Seems that April is a very significant and busy month for the trauma community. We're a whole year old and that's to be celebrated.. and celebrate we will with cakes and I'm adding balloons Deb.... gotta have balloons at a party! Then there's our other focus on Child Abuse Awareness and there's lots going on and its been pretty full on.
So how are you doing?As they say, good stress, bad stress, its all stress and with PTSD there as a tendency to get "overwhelmed" You know the feeling when its too much. .... when there's too much activity, too much noise, too much that is triggering.. its overwhelming.It may be time to pause, to breathe, to walk away, to go to our safe place.
Its keeping the balance (don't let the stress cup tip over) , staying within our limits, and doing what we can with what we have.... enjoying the moments!
How is your day going? How do you take care of yourself when there's a lot going on? Or pop in to say hi! Love to hear from you.. This is your space and a safe place. x
Would you like to help make a video that could help future generations of children and adults prevent child abuse from your story and your experiences? If so please do get involved!!

sorry, i don't always go back to where i posted because i get to ashamed of having asked. trying to do better on that. not really reemmembering to breath so hands and reminders help. thanks
@Sparky1 No Worries Love
@Sparky1
We are so much alike! I totally get that.
I try on my own first. Sometimes that helpes, it becomes easier every time I try.
But it is helpfull to have someone sit with you and guide you through the grounding proces. There is plenty people here that would love to help you with that.
I have found that when there is a crisis, it is usually not aomething I have control over. I can't solve it therefore I should not carry the responsibility and the weight either.
You are more effictive if you stay calm, get your mind straight and do what you can do.
So yes, breath Sparky! And if it is hard, get help!
You can do this, I am cheering you on from here!
@MaschaV
feels like the world on my shoulders some most days

best wishes

National Child Abuse Prevention Month April 16th-22nd - Speakers Corner - Life after Trauma audio event
This Event is now Open!!!!

To often Child Abuse renders it's victims silent, unheard, invisible. They often feel unable to turn to anyone. Afraid of being blamed, judged, rejected, shunned, being disbelieved, afraid of the consequences if they tell etc. And above all else afraid of being hurt once more.
So many stories are untold and unheard, stories that could encourage others, tell of hardships, fears, and disappointments, but also of great bravery, overcoming obstacles and hope. This event is an opportunity for all of us to hear Survivors of Child Abuse tell us their stories.
This event allows Survivors to speak about recovery, hope, about how to support others, how to help children who are still going through this today, how you can prevent children from suffering what they went through. They want you to listen to their messages. For you to give them the voice they never had as children.
Please see here for more details join this great event and hear the Survivors of Child Abuse have a voice now!
@rozie
Hmm, how to take care of myself when theres lots going on? Well, I noticed there was a discussion in group support earlier about procrastination. But by the time Id decided whether to join in or not, it had ended! And thats just what I do. I procrastinate, dither, and prove myself 100% inept.
But, I have a secret weapon. Pen and paper. I write a list, I prioritise, I tick it off, and I seem to manage to give the impression of being quite a capable adult at times 😂
Great post by the way. I love how you weave into whats gone before, and whats coming up. Much like life. And balloons, definitely need balloons 🎈 🎈
Hi rozie... I've been struggling very much lately but I found a pic that kinda sums me up the last 2 days. I've been keeping myself amused by finding pics that sum up my unwillingness to adult of late.. Although I still do its amusing at the same time
hope you are well
..
Hey :)
Too much for me today. Busy day at work, phone date that disappointed me and brought up memories ... got pretty overwhelmed, feeling rather disconnected but trying to stay positive and go through motions. Don't know if connection with my body is ever possible really again (life is just so full). Going to the psych NP tomorrow to discuss meds -- planning on starting another new med tomorrow.
Don't know if new med will help. Don't know what it will do. I feel like I sound like a cliche right now, like every other person that has ever posted in 7 cups. Never thought I would be here. I always thought I wouldn't let myself get here. I'm not even really sure what I'm talking about. I just feel numb and I didn't think I'd get there. I'm not sure what's happening to me.
- Singer
@singercrystalspirit
Oh Singer, understand how it can get like this, feel like this at times. Its all part of this journey that we are on. . confusing and numbing. Hoping that the new meds may help. And patience and self compassion. Thinking of you. x
@rozie
Thank you rozie

*hugs* How I wish we were all together as a community in real life rather than over the internet.
I do feel better on the new med. High high high anxiety (hoping is a temporary side effect and I adjust)... doing my best to look forward at life, not behind. Difficult to do so.
How is your day going? Today was ok. I've been fighting depression and anxiety as our landlord keeps yelling at us for things that our beyond our control.
How do you take care of yourself when there's a lot going on? I try to sleep eat and exercise
