Everyone defends my abuser
So last year, I went over to a friends house. Ill call him C. And we had been friends for over a year and always had a platonic friendship. Wed hang out often. On this particular day, I was drunk off my ass. I threw up all over myself, he helped get my clothes off, didnt give me other clothes, and layed me in bed. At this point I couldnt walk or speak, only mumble. I have a horrible memory of that night, but I do remember waking up to him on top of me. I couldnt even stay awake. Let me also add I was the only one who drank.
So the next morning, its awkward and I leave, and I build the courage to tell 3 close friends who know C as well. We had all worked together. But they all defended him bc at the time he was j fired and lost his car. They justified his actions bc he was going through something and we never spoke about it again. They even would send me back over to his house to pick up something for them or even invite him over while Im over.
It was a year ago but I still think about it. Idk if its something I should bring back up, or keep trying to forget.
@JeyImon
First of all, I'm really sorry this happened to you. What he did was wrong and just because your "friends" are justifying his actions, doesn't make what he did any less wrong!
Second of all, this sounds a lot like a situation I had with someone I deemed a very close friend. The rest of my "friends" were told some details about what had happened and what this friend had done to me, but they also downplayed it and acted like it wasn't a big deal. That was when I realised they were not true friends. I left the friendship group after that but they kept him as a friend.
What I'm trying to say is, this is a good opportunity to evaluate who your true friends are. If they don't want to listen/support you and instead stick up for him because he's "going through a rough time", then are they friends worth having around?
well, it does depend on how you feel about it, do you want to bring it up more or will that hurt you more. i'm extremely sorry about your friends, they should not have taken his side because he was going through things. and c should not have taken advantage of you that way, i understand how it is to be sexually assaulted, it's hard to forget, even when you don't know exactly what happened. but i am wishing you the best, we're all here to support you.
much love, noah.
