Your abuser can be the one closest to you

So I was in a 3 year relationship with someone who was verbal and physically abusive. But he was also sexually abusive. After he would beat me, he would make me perform sexual acts to humiliate me. And when I didnt want to have sex with him, he would force himself on me and rape me. One time in particular, I was so tired, I just began to sob. He slapped me. Pushed me on the bed, I just laid there and pretended I wasnt there. And I guess for him, it wasnt exciting enough, so he finished and left. And I laid there crying my eyes out until I found the strength to wipe my tears, put my clothes on, and pretend nothing was wrong when he came back. Finally, I left. Thank God. It took a lot to get myself back to enjoying sex. And I am grateful to have someone like my husband who is gentle and understanding.

@CaraMel322 I glad that you were able to get out of the abusive situation and find someone else who is not abusive.

Thank you for sharing your story. So many people have a false belief that abusers are stranger in a dark street at night, while it's often someone close to you. I'm so glad you found the strength to leave! It surely required a lot courage, but it's greatest act of self-love and bravery you could do. It's not easy when it's someone you thought you loved and loved you back. But you put yourself first, you recognized your value and your right to be free of fear, and to be treated with the respect you deserve. And now, life has given you the love and happiness that you're so worth of! I hope your story can inspire and bring hope to others. It's always worth fighting for a better life.
